thinking of going full time, versus the part time I am now...any thoughts on this from other agents? I'm just starting out and would like more exposure, but I was wondering what the bulk of the more experienced agents here have done when they first started....thanks, as always for your input

I've sent out about 20 packages to expired listings this weekend, see what happens this week, IF i get 1 listing it would be worth it

I figured that...but I meant as far as starting out, did you start out full time, part time...?

I started out full-time. Many agents do well at it part-time, others don't. I happen to know for a fact I couldn't do it part-time.

Some part-time agents that I know who do well have part-time or full-time jobs. They make tons of contacts with the public and other co-workers.

I'm willing to bet half full time agents are really part time agents. They say their full time, but do they put in 40 hours or more a week of ACTUAL work? Rarely. However if you're busy Realtor closing deals, you will be full time.

This is a very good point. 40 hours of ACTUAL work in this business should be enough to put you ahead of many, if not a majority, of your fellow agent colleagues.

I know in my market, most 'realtors' are part-timers who just want something to do (retired from other fields and figured real estate would be an easy transition). I, for one, started as a full time agent, not wanting to compromise my level of professionalism (and luckily I had enough savings to carry me over the beginning, during which time the level of income is minimal). My motto, go big or go home.

I am in Massachusetts, I have been full time for 14 years and have sold over 360 million in volume sales and our company just surpassed 1 billion in combined sales. PM me and we can talk Turkey. Welcome to the club!
