I have been mailing to my sphere since I started RE, a few years. I have not gotten any business from it, so should I stop? I'd rather email, but I don't have all their emails, nor telephone numbers. What is your experience?
Thanks.

if they dont need to buy or sell, why would they call?
a few years of marketing means that you have x dollars invested and no return. i would find a differnt group to market to or change the message that i was using for the group that was getting the mail

I would say if you don't have either their email or their phone number, then they should be dropped off your list. How well can you actually know them if you only know their mailing address?
Have a marketing specialist review what you have been sending, or even just a colleague. Your message may be too lengthy, too direct, too muddled, not relevant, etc.
If it's too much of a money suck, then look at what you can do for little to no money - blogging, social media, drop-by visits, community events and organizations, etc. Use these to build a more deep-rooted sphere.

Perhaps it's time to decrease marketing to them and increase to areas you farm, as well as social media (assuming you are not currently doing that).

mailing to people that you wont stop over to talk to, who have not expressed an interest in selling, and who you dont have a phone number for just doesnt seem like a good idea.
talk to an agent in your office who does a lot of deals and see if they would give you some pointers. make sure it is an agent that ACTIVELY prospects. not someone who has been in the business for 30 years who works exclusively from referals. if you get their advice, there is a good chance taht you would not be able to replicate the results as you dont have the client base to work (as is already proven)
i hope that did not come across as mean, just want to make sure i was clear in regards to who to talk to.

Well I would call all of them whose numbers you do have or can look up, tell them you are switching to an email newsletter and ask for their email addresses. While you are at it, talk to them a little about the biz. Then I would mail a card to the ones you don't have a phone number for, telling them you are going green and if they are interested in getting your email newsletter, ask them to send you their email address. You could put in a stamped self addressed card they could send back with that info. The ones who send it back stay, the rest you throw in the trash.

Promote a contest or drawing for gift card or something of value that will only be done via email so you can get some email addresses from them.

This Google Custom search may do a better job of searching the forums for some keywords than the old forum search does. The results do not include threads from the Asset Managers Forum however. To search that forum you will need to be actually in the Asset Managers Forum and you will need to use the old forum search below.
