My husband and I just started this business. We obtained all the insurance that is required. Which was not cheap especially the workers comp. I have been marketing on the computer non stop for three weeks now. We just got signed up with Cyprexx. Our cordinator just contacted us today. Does anyone currently subcontract for cyprexx and have any advise for us.We also have a few good leads with some local real estate agents. From calling and getting email address or driving by and dropping off flyers to anyone interested in our services. We are excited but also worried that this mabe was not such a great idea.

You've invested quite a bit of time, effort, and money into your startup and you have at least one client.

You're doing all the right things. Why are you hesitant now, after having gotten this far?

Just curious.

My husband has been in the carpenters union for 2 years. Before that he was a plumber and laborer in the union. Total 14yrs. Never been layed off until now. Total of 3 weeks now. We are used to stability and the unions are not so strong anymore. I hope this works out for us. I just wonder if we are getting into this to late. I haven't heard to many negative things about cyprexx so hopefully this will be a good start.

Getting used to a new routine, job, or way of life is never easy. There's always that panicky feeling until you get the hang of it.

I won't sway you either way. You have to do what you feel is best. But do searches on the internet and search here at the forum for national asset management companies and see what you come up with.

They're not all the same so you'll see the complaint posts, along with the good ones. Weigh your options and apply with those you feel most drawn to.

If you can find out what their rates are for the work you'll do and the pay schedule, that would be a good thing to know ahead of time.

I wish you the best of luck.

Good Luck to you propertyclean! I am also new to the business and in the process of getting my insurance. I am also concerned about my timing on getting into this business, but I keep telling myself that I will never know until I try.

It is encouraging to hear that you were able to get lined up with one of the nationals. It is my hope to be able to start out with one of the larger nationals and then try to get in with some local realtor's once I have some jobs under my belt. It sounds like it should be an adventure as well as a learning curve to work for the nationals.

This forum has some great information and the people here seem like they are willing to help if you ask the right questions. I have been reading posts here for a while and finally created my own account.

I would also like to give a thanks out to those of you that put in so much time making this information available to us. I hope to be able to contribute with my own tidbits as I grow in this industry.

Good Luck to you and your husband.

When I first went on board with Cyprexx about a year ago things worked very good. We bid on all our work and we did very well with them. Within the last six months they changed coordinators twice and I have yet to recieve any work from either of them. I believe they are working with some new contractors in the area on a flat rate. I can not get any answers as to why I have not been given any work, so I will have to assume the other contractor is cheaper at the flat rate. If thats the case he won't be in business very much longer if he is getting less money than I was. I was called out to to do a repair bid on a house that the new contractor had and it seems they used deck screws on the crawl space door hoping no one had a bit to open it up. Well guess what I do and under the house was at least six yards of debris. One way or another they won't be in business much longer.

Yea I asked my coordinator at cyprexx if she would give me a list of fixed rates all she said was if you have more than 25 yards of debris you give a bid but the initial clean had a flat rate of way less than what I expected.

we just got one that has 9 yards of debris, initial clean, initial lawn, lockbox, 2 door locks for $490 and they pay and extra $75 for winterization.
Way less than I make with other companies... this sucks but we already had accepted the job before we knew about it. I also hate how you have to use a particular keycode and lockbox. I get the keycode if you don't use a lockbox but with a lockbox, it just makes it a PITA... we're going to sub all of our cyprexx work out

Louise ~

If you make way less with Cyprexx than with all other companies how are you going to sub the work out? With you taking a percentage off the top, another vendor would make even less.

I don't know too many vendors who would even touch the job at the rate you quoted, much less considering doing it for the amount he/she would make after your discount.

Sorry to say , but, subing out at that rate may be a even bigger "PITA" miss one photo or your sub misses something... you get the drift. Stay on bid not flat rate or do not except the work order. I have all but terminated my relationship with Cyprexx...like most companies they are getting greedy. There are alot of start ups out there ready to take thier GMAC business.

We have run a few small business on the side before never needed them for stability though- Now I faced with all the "What to Do's"
It's nice to know I'm not alone.

Thank you for all the support since I first posted. Now my husband and I are to a point where we are tired of working every day but do not want to turn down work. Does anyone have any knowledge on hiring crews or subing out work. I could use all the advise I could get.
