I've been lurking for a bit and really enjoying the commentary.
I'm about to take my VA State Exam and had a question about some of the next processes.

Most importantly, when is a new agent expected to join the local/national branch of NAR and when is the new agent expected to sign up for E&O? In my research, it seems it would be wise to do both immediately, right? I've seen it mentioned in this forum that some Brokerages pay your E&O-is that true?

In general, to do business as a Licensee, you will want (or will be required) to join the MLS. To join the MLS you have to be a member of your State Association and the NAR (most places). To join these Organizations, you must be sponsored by the Broker who chooses to allow you to hang your License on his/her wall (with your agreement of course).

E&O is typically provided through the Brokerage (though not always); seeing as it protects them more from the mistakes made by you than it actually protects you.

It all flows hand-in-hand. You'll know when it's time to proceed on to the next step. Take care of first things first.

It was pretty easy and painless...( with the exception of writing out the check) to join the MLS and NAR...I start some training with my broker tomorrow, best of luck
