My wife and I recently bought a house. I asked before buying the house if there were any restrictions on the property and was informed there were none. During closing, after signing all the papers, we were presented with a paper that stated restrictions on the property. What are my legal rights now. I feel we were misrepresented. The restriction is that we can't split the property and sell it when, in fact, the property was split when I bought it and the restriction was already on the property and the previous owner signed the restriction also. I made an generous offer to buy the whole piece of property and was turned down. What are my legal rights now. I don't want anyone to build this close to me.
