Like the title says, so that we can brainstorm and get ideas from one another, list the ways you advertise.

Me:

- Weekly ad in the newspaper
- Facebook group and fan page

I am going to start sending out mailers within the next month and then possibly put my banner up at the local hockey rink, soccerplexe and gym in my area.

You guys?

personal Internet website
lead capture webpages for certain niches like foreclosures, farm properties.
Blogs
Listing websites
Just listed, just sold cards
Facebook status updates (but not to often, I don't want to get annoying)
Company website
RE/MAX.com
sign
flyers
youtube videos
quarterly newsletters
expired letters (though not to many decent expired around here)
SOI letters and calls
more that I can't think of right now.

I contrate most advertising to busineses that I frequent via give aways (sport magnets, note pads etc), post cards with recipies on them. The magnets so far are the best. People expect them now so when they show up late, they call me. I can wait and order them for a discount and blame the printer.

Sports sponsorship- I found its better to sponsor a kids team. You gotta print your own banner and hang it up your self and take it down your self but the parents will talk to the sponsers, and its alot cheaper. I'll schedule with the coaches to supply the snacks for both teams on certain games for the kids.

Facebook- I do updates just enough to make my friends remember that I am a Realtor, but I don't annoy people. When I see somebody may need my services I send them a PM, a very informal PM offering my services.

re: Facebook status updates - never never never do I say "If you need a realtor call me" or anything like that. I sometimes mention that I'm off to show houses, or just had a closing, or put a new listing on, but only occasionally. Most of my FB stuff is fluff and nonsense designed to just engage conversation.

Exactly REO and Perky about the FB stuff. That's what I meant on my post when I said don't post to much to be annoying. If I was having closings every day I wouldn't mention those, but since I'm not I mention them when I do. Sometimes. Sometimes I post on FB a somewhat interesting real estate fact having to do with my market.

But I always end my status updates with the slogan.

For all your real estate needs call me.

Ok I'm kidding. I hate that slogan.
