Does anyone know what PA stands for? There is an agent in my office that has PA after their name on their business card. ie,
Kerry Sanders, PA.

Hmmmm... I can't think of anything to do with real estate. I always think of a PA as a "Physicians Assistant".

I believe its a legal abbreviation, "Professional Association", and is used after names that makes known others a separate legal entity. It's a form of incorporating a group of professionals, such as physicians, dentists, attorneys, accountants, etc.

While it may not be unique to Florida, under the rules of the Florida Real Estate Commission, a licensee may incorporate as a PA, have their commission checks written to the PA and operate like a corporation, even though they actually are an independent contractor. Unless it has changed recently, a licensee (agent or broker associate) may not be paid as a corporation (C or S type).
It's a way to shift personal liability to a corporate entity. But the rule is that they must advertise and promote themselves as, for instance, Aristotle Agent, P.A.
