Yes. Do not go on Trulia Answers or Yahoo answers or on Citydata.com and then say "Call me for all my smart real estate know-how!" People HATE that stuff. And it really helps perpetuate the image that we're nothing but a bunch of schmucks.

Be careful about marketing on Facebook - set up a Fan Page for your business and funnel most of your marketing through that. Profiles are meant to be PERSONAL ONLY and you could get banned if people complain or flag your account. I only post occasional real estate tidbits in my Personal profile...almost all of my real estate stuff is on my fan page.

I concur with Perky's comment about facebook. The fanpage can be a great tool for you to market yourself safely, while still being able to provide a glimpse to your non-realtor side. Any twitter success?

I haven't done much w/ Twitter. I go on occasionally but just don't have time for that. It's all I can do to keep up w/ blogs and facebook and my other responsibilities.

You should try it, Perky. it's a good way to expand your fanbase and you can feed tweets from your blog postings, facebook,etc. It's actually pretty cool how a lot of components can be integrated.

I actually just wrote an article on my blog on this exactly, it's in my sig file(30kin3months.com), but in short,your website is doing no good at generating leads. You generate a lead by having a user fill out a form on your website in order for them to get information you're offering. An MLS search, a foreclosure list, a free report. They fill out there name,number and email. Boom! warm lead that's raised there hand for you.


Also you need to know if you're getting traffic or not. Like everyones said before me, pay per click ads are a great way for immediate traffic.
