I actually live about 3 miles from Hershey and drive thru every day. Some days there is a chocolate aroma in the air. A lot nicer than some towns smell.

I was not born with a sweet tooth; I would not know good chocolate from walmart chocolate. I thought San Francisco had a chocolate Company that was famous. Ghiradelli Chocolate Factory...located at Fisherman's Wharf....I got hooked on this stuff, a couple of years ago.....There have been many a night I've spent late evenings at the computer, with a bag of those goodies right next to me. The ones with the carmel center are my favorite....just pop those puppies in the freezer for an hour, and I'm good to go...got my youngest daughter hooked on them.....so much for her diet....lol. All this talking about them has done me in.....will be heading to the factory store in the morning.

J~ A fairbanks AM used to take (collect) business cards from us of agents so long as they has a silly or unusual agent picture on them (cards collected from counter tops in listings for instance). They had a wall they posted them on. Anything to maintain the relationship. Once or twice I sent postcards to some of my bpo reps reminding them to set their clocks or something. One or two of them said thanks. It never crossed my mind to send anything more.

I was not born with a sweet tooth; I would not know good chocolate from walmart chocolate. I thought San Francisco had a chocolate Company that was famous. So sad... Saturday mornings I will go buy a dozen donuts for the family. I cannot eat a whole one, I just do not have a sweet tooth. 1/4 of a donut and I am satisfied. Same thing on birthdays, I can never make it through an entire piece of cake. I could eat a pound of hashbrowns though and still want more. It must be something internal about my constituion.

Years ago the situation got way out of hand. One send,s a card, one sends a pen set, one sends Lobster or Steaks, How about a freezer for the steaks? Where does it end? The most extreme I've heard of was a case where an AM received a new car for Christmas (not kidding). Obviously that's not a thank you or Happy Holidays, that's a payoff. Some of these companies will delete you from the system in a heartbeat if you send anything at all. Follow their guidelines to a T and you'll stay out of trouble.

But a life size cut out of your Realtor? Thats just funny. I should assemble my me army and send them out. Who would not want a life size pic of me. Maybe I will make it 3-D! "Who would not want a life size pic of me?"........Are we taking votes?...lol.....just kidding......I'll stick with the chocolate....To send a life size cut out would just make QC's day....I can see the darts flyin', now.......

Ghiradelli Chocolate Factory isn't exactly at Fisherman's Whaft, close by (within walkng distance) but not Fisherman's Wharf. It was, indeed, a producing chocolate factory through the mid-60s when the operations where moved to San Leandro. I lived within 3/4 of mile of the place in its heyday and I will never forget the scent of the chocolate (now I'm missing it). Now the place is called Ghiradelli Square (it takes up an entire city block) with lots of interesting small shops but I don't think it's ever been totally occupied (lots of store fronts available). In the square itself they sell Flicks (does anyone remember Flicks?) and there is a "genuine" Ghiradelli Ice Cream Shop on the lower level. If you're ever in San Francisco and make it to the Square, you owe it to yourself to try The Rock. Seriously, good stuff, pricey but it's a treat. The other thing that San Francisco did have but no longer were two coffee roastries. Hills Brothers (of course) and Superior. I worked across the alley from Superior and you could tell when a batch of beans was over-roasted. Almost put me off coffee but I got over it.
I'm a native of SF and these are things that made San Francisco San Francisco. Now, when I go back, I'm all like trippin' down memory lane and I get sad. Even the sourdough bread is fast fading from being made in San Francisco and the salami isn't there anymore either. It's It? From Playland at the Beach? Made in South San Francisco (not even close to SF) down by the airport (actually on the other side of the airport).
Fisherman's Wharf was an actually working wharf, but is now primarily a tourist destination. Some small boats still go crabbing but the crabs are in short supply this year.
Okay, that was fun.
The factory in San Leandro doesn't do tours but they do have a shop attached and the prices are pretty good. They also have a factory outlet in Lathrop (Lathrop?!) off I-5 near Tracy going towards Stockton should you find yourself out that way.

Im right there with you, I have always felt sooo disrespectful because Im alwayz the ONE person not eating someone's birthday cake. Until last year I didnt eat any kind of sweets. Now, Im addicted to ice cream, candybars, donuts and pies. You nane it, I will eat it. It is very weird. It must have been a 30 yr old mark or something. I have not had the pleasure of enjoying San Francisco's chocolate tho =(

I stand corrected on the location....As a flat lander, anything I can see from "The Wharf" belongs to the Wharf....High tide can help with that assumption.....lol
