No worries CandyMan, it's just that I'm a native!!! Within 2 blocks of Ghiradelli Square, is The Cannery at Hyde and Beach (the cable car turnaround) and that effectively ends the Fisherman's Wharf "area". Scoma's, a well-known and pricey restuarant is one block (Jefferson) down and two blocks over (Jones to the east) is really the very end of what is Fisherman's Wharf proper. Pier 39 also tends to get lumped into Fisherman's Wharf as well and it's not. Can you tell I'm a purist, as well as Marina girl!!! Gotta love us natives! Of course, you must understand that my recollection of the area does not include the numerous t-shirt shops that now ring the area, so I refer to the working wharf area.

Do you remember when they had all the crab pots lined up on every street?......Let's see now....boiling crab smell along with the sweet smell from Ghiradelli's.....talk about a rush.....lol....how time flies...

There is still some of that, in fact, right outside of the Wax Museum and across the street in front of Alioto's # 8! I'm old enough to remember when that opened (the Wax Museum, not Alioto's)!! What about walk-away crab cocktails? When the sourdough was still made in the city...good times.

I had a friend from BB who just called me as I was reading this. He asked if I would just let it be know that he would be very happy if any agent thinking of sending something, please please please don't send multi-flavored popcorn. Last year they had so much he was sick til april. lol
