My realtor says it is. She says that she or I can not speak with buyer because she has an attorney. The sellers attorney said we could talk or marry, he doesn't care. My realtor strongly suggested having an attorney, because the seller does, so I have one. Now a week before settlement I am still missing vital info, no one seems to be able to get it. I finally called the seller and got the info I needed.MY realtor's pissed and said I broke a law. Is this true?

Talking with anyone is not illegal unless you have some court order or live in some place like North Korea.

It may be true that it is not in your Best Interest to have direct talks when attorneys are in place.

In any case you can submit written questions and request answers. Any specific information you need should have been identified in your sales agreement or the results of an inspection question or appraisal question which are covered by the normal agreement.

Some agent attempt to be over protective of clients for various reasons. You did not "break" a law, you probably just bruised an ego. Don't worry about it... closing seem to cure those egos.

Your Realtor is wrong.

It is however, not a great idea to have conversations with the other parties prior to closing because it's remarkably easy for someone to say or do the wrong thing and cause problems for the deal.

However in your case I see no problems and certainly nothing illegal on your part.
