A friend of mine recently had his license revoked as well as a $5,000 fine imposed because he failed to report a misdemeanor that he was convicted of last year to the board. Does anyone know of anyone else that has been throught something like this? If so, any suggestions? (attorney references, etc.)

Ohio publishes suspensions and revoked licenses quarterly, I read through them fot the heck of it. Many are fines and suspensions for failure to report a conviction. I know we have to report felonies I can't remember if it mentions misdemeanors though.

If it helps you can tell them that I think thats a little harsh.

Ohio: has to report any convictions, guilty pleas, or having been granted an intervention in lieu of conviction, for any unlawful conduct, the only exception being minor traffic violations.

This is just my opinion. For a lot of minor things, especially if they happened years ago, it's not so much that they have happened, but that an applicant, or licencee lied about it. That's when a Div gets upset.
