I received two offers an REO listing today. The AM has requested highest and best and buyers FICO scores. The FICO score request is a new for me. Have any of you come across this before? What are your thoughts? It seems an odd request.

Yeah, have seen request for FICO scores or pre-approval with their preferred vendor. I guess they want to make sure the buyer is qualified...

It weeds out a lot of buyers who are not serious...

Do you think that can be verbal from the Buyer? Or must it be in some form of certified documentation? And how recent?

I'm seeing this in the pre-approval letters. I'd ask the buyer's agent to request the buyer's lender regenerate the pre-approval letter to include the FICO score.

I always call the lender on all offers and ask for the FICO score, whether it is a multiple offer or not. By presenting the FICO score with your offer, the AM can get a feel for the quality of the offer which may affect their counter.
