Im starting out 50/50. How many sales or dollar amount would you say an agent should be getting more? I understand if you dont ask or wont get it. My broker said that I need to sale 1.5 million before I get off of 50/50. Newsflash...only about 5 of the 17 agents in my office are collecting checks.

ttown. I think it definitely depends on the broker and the market but you should negotiate with him/her based on your performance. If you are part of the third of the agents that are closing deals than your broker would probably be open to increasing your split rather than losing you

TTown - when you decided to join your brokerage, did your broker give you any sort of a commission scale or did he/she tell you only verbally about the raise in your commission split after you sell $1.5 mil? Did he/she tell you how much higher it would go and if your commission would then roll back to the 50/50 after the beginning of the year or your start date anniversary? It just seems like they were being very vague with you when everything regarding what you can expect should be presented to you up front, in writing. If I were you I would go in there and get something in writing up right away. You might want to check your Independent Contractors Agreement first to see if it mentions anything in there.
