Does anyone know what the deal with back taxes in Va. I know of one house where the taxes are a year and a half overdue and I know for a fact that the taxes will never be paid until the county probably auctions off the house. Any ideas?

About what??

If you're interested in buying the house track down the owner and make him or her an offer.

Yeah of course thats what I did first, that is common sense. I posted two or so weeks ago about the same property having a bunch of judgements on it. I know the taxes haven't been paid and I know they will continue to not be paid. I am working with the owner right now trying to settle these judgements so I can buy the house and he can still walk away with some cash and I was just curious as to what would happen to the property if the taxes continue to go unpaid. He has not paid the taxes since his father passed away and left him the land.

My guess is that whichever government entity that is owned the taxes would seize the property and sell it to collect.

That's the way it works most places.

In any case, you're not going to get title to the property unless either:
a) the back taxes (as well as any other outstanding charges against the house) are paid out of the sale proceeds
or
b) you are able to strike a deal with the creditors to pay them over a period of time once you take possession.
