I was planning on, when asked by buyers of recommendations for home warranty or security system providers if I directed them to my website which had affiliate links to certain companies that offered the services they were looking for. If your not familiar with affiliate programs you basically direct potential customers to their website via a special link and if they make a purchase you get something like a referral fee.

I was also thinking about giving any rentals I get customers for to give them numbers for companies like DirecTV and such where I would also receive a commission.

Would this be legal? Would I have to disclose it with the client beforehand? Or is it completely illegal?

I'm aware that the law states that you have to make sure the customer knows that there are other providers they can use.

I should probably ask my broker about this as well, but as I'm not an agent yet, I'd like to get as much advice here as possible.

I know RESPA rules refer to settlement services and similar real estate services provided to buyers and sellers of real estate services.

As a broker, I would not be comfortable with an agent accepting any kind of payment from a service provider, such as home inspection, home repair, etc.
