Reviewing info below...any suggestions of next steps or cautions to be taken.
1.Husband & I found property we're interested in.
2.House empty w/"hand written" sign: Rent to own or purchase w/phone# & website.
3. No asking price or other info posted anywhere.
4. Visited website www.fullharbor.com and is one of the most useless websites I've encountered.
5. Attempted 2x to email them and address kicks back.
6. Called 2x (1x a week)leaving message on answering machine telling them that we're interested in property. NO return calls.

Personally...I find this suspicious as wouldn't you think if they had a house to sell they'd return calls?
We're not "seriously" shopping yet we just happened to drive by this one and saw the sign. Thus piquing our curiousity. (We do intend to sell in this year or next though we're in no hurry)
Any suggestions of how we can find out the price etc of this house w/out signing any contracts?

Ask. That is - once you find the true owner. I'd reccommend your checking with the county register to get the name of the "real" owner, then see if you can find a phone number, or mailing address. No one should require a contract from you BEFORE you get your questions answered.

You may also see if you can contact the neighbors to see what they know or contacting agents in the area to see if they can look up past MLS sales.

There is a web site called Homeinfomax.com it is a national data base of property profiles including all transactions on the property, etc... I have used it and as long as you have the address it will give you the owners name and info. At least, its a head start.

They seem to be not seriously selling and you say you're not seriously buying; sounds like a match made in heaven. \:\)

Try getting the owners name from the tax records at your local tax assessors offices and sending them a letter; the post office will usually forward it if there is a forwarding order on file. You can also go to the MAIN post office and under the Freedom of Information Act get their forwarding address for a dollar or two.

Hello,
If its not FSBO then get in touch with a realtor. They will pull up the information. If you are not familar with the neighborhood pricing ask your realtor to provide you with a CMA. This will give you more information about the houses and the price range.

"checking with the county register to get the name of the "real" owner, then see if you can find a phone number, or mailing address."
*OK-that sounds like a good starting place! And we're going to contact a few of the neighbors this weekend.
*Depending on what happens from above we'll contact a realtor.

"They seem to be not seriously selling and you say you're not seriously buying; sounds like a match made in heaven"
*But sometimes an opportunity comes along when your least looking for it
