Do reciprocol links really work? Need advice.

I'd like to do reciprocol links but do they really work? I have a home staging business and I specialize in online home staging. It's really the most affordable and effective way to stage a home as long as the homeowner is willing to do the actual work. I give advice and recommendations all throughout the process until the home is completed.
I guess my target reciprocol links would be to realtors or realty companies or to fsbo sites.
Do you have any recommendations as to which sites would be the most beneficial for my online home staging business?
TIA.

www.linkmarket.net is a good place to find link partners. I would focus on submitting to directories too. Make sure to check to see if their link page is indexed on the search engines.

Ok, I went to the www.linkmarket.net and signed up. When I went to actually link the linkmarket site, there was a problem. So, I filled out a ticket request for help and am waiting to hear back. I did pick 5 businesses to exchange links with, one has agreed, but I haven't tried to add it since the screen is the same as it was for trying to (unsuccessfully) link the linkmarket site. Oh, my...
Oddly, I have received a few requests for links from companies which don't seem to be compatible like a hotel in the UK and a vericose vein business.
Anyway, I'll wait to hopefully get a response from the linkmarket company as to what is wrong and go from there.

Well, I've never heard back from the linkmarket company as to what I was doing wrong. I've had numerous requests to exchange links but just can't get them to work. So, I think I am going to abandon that company. :(

I wouldn't spend a ton of time pursuing link exchanges. They're really not all that effective any more (especially in the "collection of tons of "resources" context). Better link exchanges would be article trades, where you're the only link on that page (vs one of dozens of "resources" on someone's link exchange page). http://myrealestatecontent.com has huge success getting one way links in trade for writing unique content for webmasters. You could do the same (offer unique content, or guest-post on other's sites in trade for a link back to your site.)

Is the information on http://mydogcontent.com any more helpful? Same concept, different copy & different niche.

Thank you VernalUtah. Where in San Diego are you? I'm in north county.
Thank you, Joel. You had me going with the dog site there, totally confused as to why I would want to put dog info on my home staging site, then I figured out that it was just for me to read to understand the concept of the original one you had posted to me. :-)

Home Stager, I believe Google slightly frowns upon reciprocal links and definitely one way links hold more value. Have you considered asking the agents you have worked with to throw up a link to your webpage. Maybe you could provide a discount to agents that put up a link on their page.

Thank you, Harold. I'm not sure what to do about the link thing. I've put the idea on the back burner for right now.

This Google Custom search may do a better job of searching the forums for some keywords than the old forum search does. The results do not include threads from the Asset Managers Forum however. To search that forum you will need to be actually in the Asset Managers Forum and you will need to use the old forum search below.
