Is there loan program for a house with no certificate of occupancy? I was told by someone that FHA 203k would work but wanted some coroberration.

It a decent older house built in 1971. Ironically parts of the house have permits and C/Os, just not the main part.

What you mean and the way we take it on our side may mean something separate. Certificate Of Occupancy to us is certifying you will or will not occupy the property.

Is that what you mean?

Actually, its a legal document that means the property is suitable to be legally occupied. It states how the building can be used. For instance it may say that the basement cannot be occupied as living space, which means one couldn't legally convert their basement to a living quarters. After the property is built and all the permits are signed off, the building department issues the certificate of occupancy. Could be just a NY thing.
