"I think" its a good idea. forget the sales guy they always have a pitch. I know I can buy a domain name for like $16 for 2years and get free hosting. So forget your $100 a year its not the point. My point was that if I buy this site it will not only be free for me....it can also make me money and make money for my real estate business......I see it as another "Tool" not a catch all. I also think if it works well it could make extra money for those slower times. Our market isnt the best!

Nobody is missing your point. If you have your mind made up then go for it. Good luck. Have at it. Though I agree with the other two comments about it.

Nothing earth shattering. It's affiliate advertising and has been around forever. 250.00 a month is crazy.

I have a system for 67.00 a month and I can do as many websites as I want to. Mine is free already as my closing attorney pays for it.

With you being a new member and only a few posts it seems you are linking the post to drive traffic to it.

If you are an agent I can give you much better options than that overpriced junk.

If you are the one selling that stuff than I guess go out and find as many suckers as you can.

I think I'm a new agent that stumbled upon a forum full of very negative and possibly self absorbed others! I came onto this forum looking for opinions from peers. But what I get is a few misfits throwing stones at me. My bet is that those who are casting the stones do so from glass houses (as the saying goes).

I have been looking through these forums and triing to read and learn. But the vast majority of what I see is negativity and people attacking and/or accusing others when they have no reason or basis. I have made four posts since I signed up today. One I posed a question, the second I responded to a question from another "Newbie" with a possible idea. and then these last two were to defend myself.

This topic was started because someone was looking for ideas. So I offered up an idea and have stones tossed at me. If I am the "sales guy" then why did I not try to sell the product?

People like the stone throwers that are on here are the reason we as Realtors have a bad name in so many areas. You are the reason people say we do nothing and are overpaid. You stone throwers are the ones that take a listing, stick it in the MLS then get back on these forums and talk smack! Yet you do nothing for your clients!

I think I have said enuffff. You obviously want to rule these pages with negativity, you win, I will go elsewhere!

Not negative just REAL. If you can't take constructive, positive advice from your peers you need to relenquish your license now as you don't have what it takes to do this business!

As Super said, this business is not for the faint at heart. Furthermore, as YOU said, you were looking for opinions from your "peers" and thats what you got! Some people are not going to agree with you, your mama told you that as a kid I hope!!! It sounds as if you already had your mind made up anyway so I'm really unsure why your panties are so in a bunch!!!

Ultimately the decision is yours! Good luck!

Offering a new agent an "idea" that's going to cost him $250 a month is not helping someone get started, it's preparing the nails for the coffin. Why would anyone want to pay money to advertise on a site that is brand new, has no ranking in search engines and zero traffic?

WORK SMART. don't throw money around at every "next best thing since sliced bread" comes along.

Sometimes the tried and true methods are best, but sometimes there is need for a new idea. The idea you proposed is not new and not tried and true.

It kind of reminds me of a textbook cover scheme that goes around from time to time. A hotshot vendor sells ad spaces on laminated sheets of heavy gauge paper that are supposed to be folded and then taped to textbooks to protect the books.

The vendor sells all of the space and then prints and delivers the book covers as promised. PROBLEMS ARISE: 1)High schoolers do not like the covers or think they are cool--uncovered covers have more personality than the generic cover protectors 2) High schoolers do not have to purchase their books and are not extremely concerned about the condition of the school-owned books 3)books which are covered were easily mixed up--is this the math book or the English book? 4)the book covers are a pain in the behind to fold and tape into place.

Do the local businesses who paid for this endeavor get their advertising dollars' worth?

The basic idea of the website is not bad. What is bad is paying $250 a month for such a thing.

It is a lot cheaper to buy a domain, get your own server space, and build a simple website that is keyword rich and will attract searches looking for that content.

One of the ugliest sites I've ever seen actually generates money for the owner - not because it's flashy or impressive but because users FIND it and can USE it and GET WHAT THEY'RE LOOKING for there. IT's very simple and to the point...it cost the owner about $500 to hire me to create it for her (I insist it's ugly, she disagrees...lol). She has it hosted on GoDaddy for about $9.95 a month or something like that. And it works.

It would be ASININE to pay $250 a month for this type of thing.

Not trying to be NEGATIVE at ALL - just trying to save someone from throwing good money at a bad investment. For this person to be so offended by the feedback tells me that Super's original call was dead on - I think it's someone trying to SELL this service, not get opinions on it because he's interested himself....
