I guess it's different for everyone. Me I don't work on the holidays period. The 4th of July is one of my favorite holidays every year. I have always loved fireworks and great food. Unfortunately, when you work in what is primarily a vacation / 2nd home market, the holidays can be the busiest time for buyers. The only holidays I refuse to work are Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Easter. Otherwise, I'm there if the buyers are. If I refused to work weekends, too, I'd be SOL for buyers. That's when people come up to the area to look around, cause they're busy working during the week. I have no family nearby other than my hubby and kids - my sister in law and her family is in Missouri, and my brother is in Seattle, and everyone else is dead. Most of our friends get together with their families. With the exception of going to the fireworks at night, the 4th is pretty much like any other day, except hubby takes the day off. When my parents, aunts, and unlces were alive we used to have a picnic of sorts. My cousin from Texas would fly up and stay for a week, and the rest of the cousins would come and visit too. Now that she died, the other cousins get together with their more immediate families and we never see each other anymore. Holidays often depress me somewhat, so I prefer to work.

^^I will say that I wish we had people to celebrate the holidays with. I would love to have had a picnic to look forward to, kids running around playing, the smell of burgers along with people laughing and having fun. We'll have some of that this summer when we go to Lake Michigan to spend a week there with my sister in law and her family - these family vacations are too few, too far between. This is one of hte benefits of my working now; we can afford to not only pay for the vacation but afford for hubby to take the time off from work to do it. Real estate has opened up things for us we never could have done on my husband's salary alone. It's just that sometimes, I get a little depressed when I think about how orphaned we are at holidays. LOL I think it's time for a glass of wine...hee hee

Well, Perky, if you're working on the holiday, there's no better way to do it than to seal a deal! I got a house under contract this weekend, too, though it sure did not seem the other agent was doing much to get the signatures in place (she waited from July 2 until today to get the paperwork back to me).
I did go to see the community fireworks last night and my church picnic today, though the picnic ended up being inside due to rain. If something had to be rained out, the picnic was sure better than the fireworks! Fireworks, a picnic, and a contract made a pretty good weekend.

I had a great holiday on Saturday, July 4th this year! I finally decided to relax the day away, so I met up with some people over at the new "M" Resort and hung out in our private cabana by their pool! This pool is extremely beautiful and so is the scenery. I had a great time and can't wait to go back, especially since it's only about 10 minutes from the house. It was definitely a change of pace between the normal everyday business stress and the awesome towel service in addition to being served drinks all day. I think our drink bill came to about $600 for the day. The total bill for the day including the cabana, food and drinks came to about $1200, excluding the tip. This is pretty normal for my area though, in case any of you are not familiar with Las Vegas.

Happy Belated 4th of July to all of my American friends. I haven't been on here in over a week.

After the loss of so many national treasures (in my opinion) over the past two weeks, I thought it was extremely important to be with my girls (wife too) and show and tell them how much they meant to me. I too thought about and prayed for the troops!

This Google Custom search may do a better job of searching the forums for some keywords than the old forum search does. The results do not include threads from the Asset Managers Forum however. To search that forum you will need to be actually in the Asset Managers Forum and you will need to use the old forum search below.
