I've compiled a large list of email addresses for all the other agents in my local market and was planning on emailing all of them whenever I have a new listing or a price change update.

Do any of you do this as well?

We have a few Agents that do this; but I find it really annoying. That's what the MLS does routinely; does well; and is one of the reasons why Agents pay to be in MLS.

I like my mailbox kept uncluttered of anything except "mail". When I want to review what's happening today on MLS, I just review the daily "Hotsheet". If these people don't get a helpful message from someone else, I ultimately block everything they send.

Ditto. I hate that crap. No one cares about anyone else's new listings or price reductions - if we have a buyer for that property, we'll go to the MLS and find it. Otherwise, it's just spam.

Sorry...

It seems to be more bragging than anything else. Can't think of any other use for since it is already in MLS.

I don't e-mail other agents about my regular listings as like the above find it annoying. However for more specialized properties like farms and ranches I will e-mail the other agents in my market that deal in farms and ranches. Which there are about 6.

Yeah that's why I decided to ask the question here because I thought that it could get annoying to some people. We have a Hotsheet that shows new listings and price changes as well but I wasn't sure how often some agents actually look at it.

Thanks for the opinions everyone.

I hate it also.

Thats not to say though its a bad idea. I get emails from other agents based upon our conversations aka networking. I'll get an email or a call with a property ready to hit the market check this out. Its pretty targeted though, not a blast email and we have a professional relationship.

Some mls's allow it within their system and others do not. Then you can also use those contact e-mail blast companies. They is not have a keyword in the body or the subject tagged for spam or else they won't get it.

I market to agents and have had a tremendous sign up rate using e-mail. If they don't want future e-mails they can unsubscribe at the bottom.

Sending an e-mail without an unsubscribe button is a voilation of the anti-spam act.

If you send them e-mails of overpriced listings they will see it as junk clogging up their e-mail. If you send really good deals some might look at it.

When I receive any of those emails, that agents email address gets added to my block sender list.

If your MLS is like mine and has a new listing section, a price change section, etc- which I check daily, why would you send me something I already know? I look at it as spam, and my association has a rule against it, but the rule breakers insist on doing it anyway.

Sending notice about an agent open is different.

I don't do it because I'm annoyed by those same emails. I just put the listing in the MLS and market it to the public. If an agent is interested, they'll find it when searching for their client.

I send out through the MLS emails - that's an Opt In for the agents, so whoever receives it receives it because they want to receive them.

I've actually found them helpful from time to time because they have reminded me of something that might work for a client that I forgot about..

I get several ones a day from agents in my brokerage where their office is about 45 minutes way & I just trash them.

wow I think you need to have your own Google or Yahoo, this is the only way to keep your mailbox uncluttered.

I view it as very inconsiderate when agents blast their new listings. I know how to use MLS.

Most agents who do the blast do not do it through MLS where the message has an unsuscribe option, so blocking the agent's email address is the only option. I have never actually had to block a local agent, though, because I email them and ask to be removed from their list or risk being blocked.
