If you are looking in your own town I would suggest asking a few agents who specialize in REO listings. In our preservation work we run into the agents frequently and have gotten to know many of them, they have hired us to do various jobs and given us referrals to other agents for preservation and repairs. That would be the simplest way to find someone reliable with a good reputation.
To cast a broader net you might try Google or craigslist in the specific area you need serviced. We have increased our company's visibility on the web as more people have entered the business to compete for the preservation work, but I still think referrals from agents you know is the best way to go for the most quality and least hassle.
The idea of the sticky thread is a good start, who isn't going to like the idea of free advertising after all?

I've thought about suggesting something like that. I didn't because of the no advertising rule.
Maybe a new board with each state as a separate sub-board? Then PP vendors can put their info into their state so that searches are faster.
Doing something like that might keep new members from advertising all over the place and creating posts they shouldn't.
Linda Linda; I decided to get something in the works, hold tight and we'll see where this leads us - no promises. I also suggest someone get in touch with you about the business, I hope you don't mind Bossy; I am one of the REO people in my area - but thanks for the reply - Many are unreliable and do poor work - but there is a need to be able to find people in our areas - agreed? Is there a PPC Association that is worth a hoot?

Yes, I'm certain we agree on a need to be able to find people in any area. Your request in your original post was to find out your "best sources" so my reply was designed to address that particular issue - reputation by word of mouth from people you know and work with. I have no trouble believing that there are many who do poor work and are unreliable, a sticky thread for advertising will not eliminate that group but some conversations with your peers might cause some of the quality names to surface. It was just a suggestion - I like the idea of the sticky thread and look forward to being able to take advantage of it.

I also suggest someone get in touch with you about the business, I hope you don't mind Not a problem at all. Be sure, though, that they mention you referred them. I've been swamped lately and haven't had the chance to address new vendor reviews, of which I have over 150 in my mailbox right now that I can't get to. I wouldn't want your referral to get lost in the shuffle. I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with. If you need someone to help you brainstorm, let me know. Linda

I think this is maybe what you want, at least it works for me.

Just type in the city & state you live in and there it is. If you lived just a few states closer to me, I would be willing to lend a helping hand. But I am not that rich to drive to the east coast for a couple of jobs...lol
This 10 min wait in between posts is crazy, it felt as though it took an hour

This Google Custom search may do a better job of searching the forums for some keywords than the old forum search does. The results do not include threads from the Asset Managers Forum however. To search that forum you will need to be actually in the Asset Managers Forum and you will need to use the old forum search below.
