I'm toying around with an off-the-shelf multimedia listing presentation. Here's an article about options, although it's a bit dated: http://realtytimes.com/rtapages/19981111_listingsoftware.htm

I see Prep Presentations: http://corporate.homes.com/major/products/prep/

Here's Visual Tour: http://www.photoshare.com/

Here's Top Presenter: http://www.topproducer.com/products/toppresenter/presenter_2.html

This is LifeStyle Media's product: http://realestate.lifestylemedia.ca/index.php

Does anybody have recommendations?

I use Microsoft Powerpoint. Reasons are:
1) flexible
2) Product well supported
3) Multimedia
4) Use it for other things besides listing presentations. Can generate CD to play on any computer. Use as my promotional cd and have used for premier properties and new construction information and virtual tours. (Powerpoint allows cd to play on any computer. Does not require powerpoint software)

A title company (First American) issued a software package that worked with Powerpoint for RE brokers that automatically setup templates, slides, etc for listing presentations, property marketing and more. Other vendors may have done same.

That article you referred to downplayed Powerpoint because of poor presentations, but like anything, garbage in - garbage out.

I just did a Powerpoint presentation for my dad's 80th birthday bash. Had is life story go by in about 25 minutes with photos, videos, music and voice. Couldn't have done that with a RE specific program.

Thanks, Jim, for the feedback regarding Powerpoint. I've always been around it, and saw many nice non-real estate presentations with it, but never took the time to learn it. I'm going to have to revisit it.

PP is really easy if you are familiar with MS products. Avoid the temptation to get cute with it with sound effects, flying text, etc. If you use it as a slide show you have a powerful tool to do a presentation.

However, I think multimedia presentations are mudrder for a 1-on-1 presentation and are betetr suited to groups. I've done plenty of each and no longer use PP with individuals - it detracts from you and is very impersonal, a negative when in situations where you are selling yourself. PLus you have to hassle with the laptop, booting it up, setting up in front of your client, etc.

I've gotten to where if some salesman comes to me with a PP presentation I say "please spare me the show and just give me the meat and potatoes, leave me a copy of the presentation for later if you like." Coming from dot-com I've been burnt out on PP presentations, maybe for non-tech people they still have impact?

That said PP presentations set on auto run would be great for open houses and the like while you tend to other customers.

Thanks Jflynn for your feedback.

PPT sounds like it's worth a look since I'm comfortable with MS products and have seen a lot of PPT presentations. And point well taken that a multimedia presentation may be too much for some people.

In my markets, some of the megastars have good luck with it, so I thought it deserved a look-over. I'd like to check out whatever little edge I can get.

Because your tech savvy You could use flash or swish. You could add some videos into it. Because you can save it to your hard drive or CD/DVD large files wouldn't be a problem.

Or powerpoint will work
