With all the news about Blackberry possibly stopping being able ot use the technology to send e-mail through their phone ... that might not be the best solution.
I have the Treo 650 and love the versatility to run all sorts of other programs that the Blackberry cannot do. The new 700 is even better since it runs on the Windows platform.
I'd recommend it ... it's a great phone.

I am working on my 3rd TREO 650, I am on Cingular Service. I love the 3rd Party software, e-mail, Web Searching, and such, BUT the reason I'm on #3 is that everyone I call complains about "Breaking up problems", severe "echo problems", so I don't know if it's a Treo problem or a Cingular problem. Before I got the Treo, I had a plain vanilla Nokia on Cingular and rarely had a phone issue.... so the moral is, if you get one, use the hell out of it before the "30 day thingy" expires!!! One last thing with a "data" service... Don't EVEN THINK ABOUT ANYTHING LESS THAN AN UNLIMITED ACCOUNT!!! LOL!! You burn megabytes like crazy!!!
UPDATE UPDATE
As of today, I am up to TREO 650 # 6!! CINGULAR finally gave up, they are sending me a HP- HW6515 Ipaq, should get it this PM. Not what I would buy, but if it works, "What the Hey!! BUT IF IT DOESN'T, I'm off to (probably) Verizon.

I believe you are referring to the HP- HW 6515, which I'm getting ( Finally) to replace my TREO 650 (have gone thru 6 of them, still "No Workie" Did some research, as best as I can tell, the system has a GPS reciever built in, and possibly a "demo" program, but apparently, you still need to purchase real maps and software, and probably some kind of "mounting device" as it has to be on top of the dashboard to get signal..
Also, I just learned that there my be a MAJOR problem with 3rd party applications, having to do with the HP "non-standard" screen size. " Further News at 11 !!"

All, Well, after mucho hours with CINGULAR & HP TECH SUPPORT, I have gotten the HP6515 semi running. Still waiting for a return call to get my Contacts straightened out, but ON CINGULAR, the voice quality is 100% better than the TREO. It is one complicated SOB to figure out though, DON't buy any of this crap about "it's just like wiindows!!!" About all the same is the "icons", everything else is shrouded in "techie never land". The newest and slickest unit I have looked at during my quest for a working Cingular WAS NOT OFFERED TO ME. They now show it on their website as the CINGULAR 8215 ( Ithink that's right), VERIZON calls it the VERIZON XV6700. Actually it's designed by a Taiwanese outfit HTC, they design PDA's for everyone and this is a radical new design. GOTO [URL http://www.mobiletechreview.com/verizon-xv6700.htm]www.mobiletechreview.com/verizon-xv6700.htm[/ for a complete review. You WILL SAY WOW!! on this one EDIT EDIT 2/19/06 UPDATE!! Well, the beat goes on....Nobody has been able to get the bugs out of the HP6515. In fact the HP Techs even managed to wipe out my Outlook data and I wound up having to restore from a backup!! Power Consumption on the thing is AWFUL!! Upon checking with people I called, all said it was better than the TREO 650 as words weren't being dropped,....only now there was a Loud Buzzing noise in the background!! As a result of a protracted Call with Cingular CS Mgmt, they agreed to send me the new 8125.In the call the CS Folks had to "Pull Ranks" over the Warranty people, but all have now agreed, If that doesn't cut it, they agreed to let me out of my contract!!! "To be continued!!"

I just bought a T-moble MDA this morning & thus far, it's fantastic! It took me about 30 minutes to configure it to do "push" e-mail & the other features are very good. It runs Windows Mobile 5.0. The signal strength was better that that of my Motorola V600 & Motorola SLVR phones. I'm going to have someone set up an exchange server for me so I can have all my PCs & my MDA synced for contacts, e-mail & schedule. I was able to use activesync via WiFi & Bluetooth with no problems at my house & office. The push e-mail works great too. I have mine set up to check my e-mail account every 10 minutes. I may set it to 30 minutes though. I've tested the PDF viewer, excel & word & they work well. I need to test a fillable PDF and see if that works. I'm in the process of getting a company to convert all of our paper forms into fillable/saveable PDFs & this whould be a great feature to have on the phone. I'll post back here, my continued feedback.. good and/or bad. Anyone have any questions or tests you'd like me to try and assist with? Scott

This Google Custom search may do a better job of searching the forums for some keywords than the old forum search does. The results do not include threads from the Asset Managers Forum however. To search that forum you will need to be actually in the Asset Managers Forum and you will need to use the old forum search below.
