and completely tune out the negative.
Positive: got another listing appointment, laughing with my kids, enjoying the weather, achieving goals, etc..
Negative: watch the news, Michael Jackson, Farah Fawcett, etc... (I only hear about negative news through people around me... they say "did you hear ....died? Now I say, "no, and I really don't care." )

Focusing on the positive is always the best way to live. Many times I find myself trying to tune out the negative. I have recently been trying to find something positive about things that are negative as well.
Attitude and determination are very important in this business in order to succeed.

to say "no, and I really don't care" is somewhat negative
just say "no"

I listen to motivational CD's in my car... it is real hard to get out of the car frustrated, angry, or negative when you have pumped yourself up... it really is the best thing that I can do.

Ursula, where do you get your motivational CD's if you don't mind me asking? I have been wanting to pick up a few lately to keep motivated. If anyone wants to send me copied CD's, that would also be greatly appreciated.

The ones that I am sending are interviews from different agents that I found on line for free so not pirating.... I just know where they are and it is easier to send out... also... you can go to www.agentmountain.com and get some stuff that can be downloaded to listen to later.

Pirating is always great!
Not. Its not pirating. Its trying to save the earth. All plastic wrap, reciet paper, gas used to go to the store, it destroys the earth. Its not much, but its a start to saving the environment.

I taught school for 20 years, and the advent of the internet changed the way students viewed cheating and plagiarism. It is very simple--when you pretend something is yours that is not yours (or that you have been given the right to take it or distribute it), you are guilty.
Even when I leave my car running and the keys in it, it is still mine. Anyone who decides to take that car just because it is accessible would be guilty of theft, and no court would agree with the thief who says they were simply confused about whether or not the car was theirs for the taking. If you did not pay for it or obtain the rightful owner's specific permission to use it/take it/give it away, it is not yours for the using/taking/giving.
Just because you can right-click and "copy" does not give you the legal right to do so, unless the rightful owner specifically gives you the right. Even when the site gives that right, as appears to be the case with Ursala, be sure to keep all of the copyright tagline when you pass along the work.
As for copying CDs in order to give them to a third party: I can only assume you were kidding! You can legally give/lend the WHOLE, ORIGINAL CD, but you cannot make a copy of it to give away while retaining the original for your own use. The act of duplication and distribution is piracy.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jammie_ThomasGo ahead. Copy. Share. I just hope you have $1.92M to pay for it. Seriously people. By copying software, music, speech and whatever, you are stealing someones work, and inhibiting their ability to make a living. It's akin to a FSBO hacking into the MLS and listing their home.

The media makes money by showcasing the negative. Sometimes I can't even watch it from day to day.

so none of you have ever made a mixed cd or tape? I have a hard time believing that. To my knowledge, you can mix your own compilation for your own personal use or for back up purposes. Distributing it is another thing entirely. Even lawyers are unsure of its legality: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/12/28/AR2007122800693.htmlHowever, if you read the quote there: The industry's own Web site says that making a personal copy of a CD that you bought legitimately may not be a legal right, but it "won't usually raise concerns," as long as you don't give away the music or lend it to anyone. Have I made copies of CDs and given them to people ? No, I have not. Have I received copies from people? Yes, I did - my high school crush made me a few tapes of CD's he had. And because I liked the recordings, I purchased my own copies of the ones I liked and threw all of the tapes out. Being married to a musician gives me a whole other P.O.V. on copied music. He's not a recording artist, by any means, but he has made recordings of his music (songs he wrote himself) and no, we wouldn't take too kindly to people illegally distributing his music, especially if we were trying to earn a living on the sales of his music. My former boss sued a book publisher for illegally using a yearbook photo in a publication without his permission. I really would not appreciate someone taking my pictures and using them without permission (though most of my pictures on Flickr have Creative Commons licensing applied, allowing others to use them as long as they give me credit.) Maybe if some of you actually created something for your business, you'd feel differently about others "copying it" and taking away your livelihood, bit by bit.

How did everyone on this thread go from thinking positive to piracy? I asked someone for some audio tracks and everyone gets all crazy about it. I admit, I am guilty of using Limewire to download music onto CDs for my own personal use. Is this stealing? Ask Limewire why they are still around.

While I agree in theory, it's kind of sad that RAH's original post trying to focus on the up side of life turned into a debate. Back on topic; my son has a closing coming up and I was telling him "don't count your chickens" (spend your money) "before their hatched " (deal might fall through). I realized I wasn't teaching him the power of positive thinking and so said...." you know what, that deal IS going to close - it's your job to MAKE it close....don't spend the money yet but, in August, you WILL be getting a check because you made it happen" We've had no sun here for the whole month of June and I was complaining the other night ...my husband, said, yeah, it sucks but we're alive. He was kidding, sort of, but made me stop and think.

You really should remove your signature line when you post sometimes.... Not to be negative tho LOL
