I want to hear all the stories. I'm attending RE school in a couple months and i really want to know a typical day and especially like the first day or first week stories! After the schooling and getting a sponsor what's next? You go to work and answer phones to get a lead??? you do more training?? How many hours would you work a day? I wish i could 'shadow' someone just to see how a typical day is. If there's anyone in Oklahoma that can show me the ropes I'd really like to 'shadow' you for a day or two. Thanks in advance for your stories.

There is no typical day. Every day is different with new adventures.

The number one skill you must master is to handle every crazy curveball that real estate throws at you with grace, all the time remaining cool and collected while:

your buyer is extremely upset because the septic inspection could not occur because the seller's agent didn't take your message SERIOUSLY about having the septic uncovered for the inspector...

while your half million dollar deal threatens to fall apart over minor landscaping...

while another buyer agent calls you to say the sale of your listing can't proceed because there's a cloud on the title...

while you have five different looky-loos asking you for waterfront property that is within their budget of under $50,000...

while your other pending deal hangs by a thread as new mishaps occur, like basement flooding...

while other agents in the office whine about how slow things are...

while your family demands more and more of your attention because you're so preoccupied with all the issues...

while you contemplate whether or not you will have enough income for the rest of the year as it seems every deal you have going on threatens to fall apart any moment...

while your customer facing foreclosure wants you to take him to a view short sale listing, cause it might be a good deal....

all with a smile, all with charm, all with aplomb....all while remaining sober.

Or not.

The first thing I do at the office EVERY DAY is plan. I spend approximatly 20 minutes making a checklist of items to complete. After this planning, let loose the dogs of war...

Typical day... LOOKING FOR CUSTOMERS ready, willing and ABLE to do a real estate transaction. Most adults WANT to own real estate. Only a small percentage are ABLE.

Oh yeah, in California, there are over 500,000 people with a real estate license. That's right. More than half a million.
It's the second most popular license in the State, after the Drivers License. Good luck. There are NOT EVEN half a million transactions per year. Somebody ain't gonna get any!
It's common to fail! lol
