Hi,
Can anyone tell me why Real Estate Agents wouldn't be interested in the Yahoo Yellow Pages? the fee is nominal and the traffic is there? why do some agents have websites and then dont care to promote it? I call them up they say not interested, they have a website, it doesnt work for them (kause they cant' direct traffic), people are looking in the Yahoo YP and dont have anyone to call but alphabetical listings, but all the agents dont care and dont want to be there, how can they say no to business?
insight would be helpful.

When prospective clients or customers are looking for real estate information they go to the major search engines and type in keywords and search there.

They rarely use the Yahoo Directory much less the Yahoo Yellow Pages - they do however use Yahoo's search results which are currently provided by Google.

That is why there is little interest.

Hmmm. $25 per month for the Tier 3 pricing up to $300 per month for Tier 1 in your metro area.

What kind of traffic do you get for that? It's all about traffic. Seems kind of pricey to me.

Agents have to spend their time and dollars wisely. Everywhere you look, someone is trying to sell you leads, which often turn out to be unmotivated information seekers. The best leads come from referrals, optimization, and targeted prospecting.

Good point, Dee. Although it might be safe to say that unmotivated information seekers equate to future home buyers?

Technically, anyone can turn out to be a future home buyer, it's just a matter of how much time and energy you want to spend "courting" that person. One thing successful agents learn is where to best attract their target market and how to spend their hard-earned dollars. Referrals and targeted prospecting are the best ways to earn repeat business. There are many, many books, seminars, and online resources for learning how to prospect and where to spend your time. As long as it's focused, many agents can succeed.

Paying for leads from some of these large aggregators may or may not pay off. Each agent has to analyze their goals and decide the best way to go. They can always try it for 6 months or a year and see how much they're getting back. So far, it's been the opinion in other threads on this site that servicemagic and other large lead sources are hit or miss.
