Who was it said no ricers? On nice warm and sunny days, I take my 85 300 ZX 2+2 out, take the T-tops off, and drive it for real estate. On colder days I take 11 Avalon out with the seat heaters for real estate and when its really nasty cold, snow and ice on the ground, I take my 4x4 Bowtie out for real estate fun!

Ah. The one car I truly, truly regret getting rid of in my life was my '87 300ZX 2+2...

Hey, Retsof Yor, which Bowtie with 4 X 4 do you have? I miss my '99 Blazer--I had an '05 Trailblazer as well, but it was too bus-like for my taste--the '99 was compact like a Jeep and handled the ridiculous Ohio winters like nothing. I've never had a 4 x 4 pickup, would like to know how they handle heavy snow with their light rear ends. I have a FWD '09 Traverse now that is terrible in snow.

Its the 87' Silverado Ext Cab 2500, one of the first to arrive here in town at the model change. I bought it new back then just like the 280 Z. Traction is decent if I don't play around to hard but if not without some weight it can swap end (drift) on ice. When they are sweet...I keep em.

Cool! Thanks for the info Roy--I'd like to have an older pickup like that, but I'd probably reserve it for summer use--either that or I'd fill it with firewood for winter traction smile . We've been exceptionally lucky so far this winter, but there's a looooong way to go.

Just bought a 2009 Fusion with 14,500 miles, leather, heated seats, v6 for $13,900. For the mileage I couldn't find anything cheaper than $17,000 for the same car so I thought it was a good deal. I plan on driving it to at least 200k.

The car you drive implies a lot about you to anyone who agrees to meet you for a professional purpose, I have been driving Infiniti G35 and so far it has treated me well.

There's a very old saying that says "If you look like a million bucks you have a better chance of catching a million bucks than if you don't" - that said competency and job performance is very important as well.

I have 2001 saturn 4-door - had new front brake pads and new rotors in July 2009 (car only had 48k miles at that time (I purchased 2nd-hand). Front brakes had been squeeking. Have driven 26,000 miles since then and had, again, new brake pads and new rotors installed last week (3/2012). Heavy pulsations when brakes were applied. That's about 2.5 years.

Does this sound 'right' to you all? Shouldn't they have turned the first set of rotors they put on instead of replacing them?

I coast at every opportunity to traffic lights (yellow/red) and stop signs. I'm not a stop-go driver - I coast instead so as not to use my brakes much. And, if it's a really bad downhill drive on a mountain, I would shift to a lower gear so as not to have to constantly brake.

I've read all cars are different...I just don't know. I am taking it back to the shop this Tuesday (have used this shop for nearly all vehicle work).

Sorry this reply took so long, VABroker, but I didn't see your post until now. GM brake rotors are notorious for wearing out early, especially on the sedan-type cars. They just weren't constructed very heavy. It's why I finally broke down and learned how to change them--it's a LOT cheaper to do it yourself and once you've done it once it'll be easier from then on. YouTube is a wonderful resource for auto repairs--it has saved me hundreds and hundreds of dollars, no joke!

Oh, and to answer the rest of your question, those rotors are so crappy that it probably would have required too much to turn them--they were too thin to turn or it would have required taking off too much metal to be worth it. I looked up a 2001 Saturn LS in a major auto parts store's website just for fun. Your front rotors should run around $31 each if you buy their brand.
It only takes ONE seriously hard application of brakes to screw those crappy rotors up--the heat warps them.
