I'm afraid that in the Jurisdictions where I have resided (7), a Felony is with you for a lifetime.

There are some States and Commonwealths where they may choose, in the interest of allowing someone to maintain a livelihood, to make an exception provided that the Felony is not closely associated with the activities required in the Licensed Profession. Real Estate happens to present many opportunities for Fraud. I don't know if any exception is made for someone who has not already become dependent upon making a living in that Profession.

Someone else here, who knows New Jersey Rules and Regulations, will have the answer; but to be sure, check with your own Secretary of State in New Jersey to find out what their current exceptions are . . . . if any.

Anyway, Good Luck.

Probably if you call your state real estate commission they will know. My guess would be they review misdemeanors and other minor infractions on a case by case basis whether to grant a license or not.

For felonies (especially fraud) I would venture to guess it would be a NO. With the commission I would not be the one to stick my neck out on that one and approve a license.

So I would say you need to get the answer BEFORE expending any money to take a pre-license course etc. You can always be an investor and buy property without a license.
