I am looking into buying one of the copy, scan, fax, print.

What i want is one that turns the fax into a pdf format when it comes in,this way i can delete spam and other crap from printing out junk papers and using all of my ink.

Is the fax coming into pdf format the printer or some software i need to do that.

thanks

I do the following to take care of "junk" faxes:

I have my desktop computer on 24/7 and have the fax line directly connected to the modem input (line). I then go out of the computer modem (telephone) to my HP 7410 all-in-one input.

I set my computer fax program to answer on the second ring and the HP to answer on the fourth ring.

This allows 99.9% of all the faxes to be received on my PC. I can then view them, print or delete as necessary.

The HP is there if the PC goes down. Since it answers on the fourth ring, it will only receive a fax if the PC is down for some reason. Due to this setup, I never miss a fax and I can eliminate the junk!

I also use the HP when I need to send a fax.

I can scan any documents/photos and the HP will allow me the option to save them as a pdf. It's built into the scanner software that comes with the all-in-one. I use this feature almost every day. The document feeder is also a nice feature for scanning as I can load it up with 20+ pages and create a pdf from the scan. I chose the 7410 for several reasons:

Wifi- I can use it with my Laptop with no wires!

Legal size scanning- Nice for contracts, etc

Two paper trays- Letter and Legal (no having to swap out paper)

Works well for me!

The HP 7410 also has built-in automatic double-sided printing, and it does well printing color photos, too. I use mine in exactly the same way for faxes.

I think you'll need a full version of Adobe Acrobat to convert your file into a pdf form. There may be other programs that do it, but I couldn't tell you their names. Sorry. \:\(

Not if you have one of the HP all-in-one units, it's a built in feature.

If you want a solution to creating pdf's from other documents, then check out CutePDF. It adds a printer driver that allows you to create a pdf from anything you would normally print. You just choose CutePDF from the printers list and the program converts the document, photo, etc, to a pdf.

I've used the free version and it works great!

I've used it to create pdf's of all my listing flyers & contracts. I keep them all on my USB thumb drive and can print out anywhere I can use a computer/printer.
