All those programs mentioned above are just for people that dont know any better. They are basical templates and you fill in the words. The leave footprints in your code, will only rank in someones fantasies, and your site will look to the search engines like a few million other sites. They arent worth $1.
The only way to get a decent site is to hire a professional web designer. And expect to pay several thousand. Anything else is just someone taking advantage of your ignorance.

I recommend Homes.com/Advanced Access. We offer basic website- 280 templates. And totally customizable websites- no templates. What people don't seem to realize or better said are ignorant to that fact that websites need to be in a certain format and have certain megatags in order to indexed by the search engines, Google, Yahoo, Msn. And in most cases if your not doing sometype of Search Engine Optimization then you will be amognst page 499 with millions of other websites anyway. Google, Yahoo, Msn actually sit down and rate website to who's are the best and has the best information. Check out this like and see the customizable websites. Email me for more info. Torresm@homes.com- tell me you found me on this site and I will give you a discount. http://estrategy1.homes.com

I wasn't going to say anything and just let it go... but I have to say it... The above statement by WEBMASTER is so full of crap on so many different levels! First of all... NO WEBSITE IS CREATED FOR SCRATCH! If you find me a webmaster that creates you a website from scratch, I'll show you a webmaster that will be out of business quickly! All good webmasters take some from here, take a little code from there, make a little something new for this, and there you have it, a custom website. (built from pieces of other websites they have done in the past, with some new stuff added) Every website, starts from some sort of template. How much you can customize the template is the key. Google, MSN, Yahoo don't care if your website "looks" like someone else's, they only care if your website has quality and unique content that best answers someones question typed into their search engine. I'll back up my statement with a quick example. www.kimolive.com This is very much a template website, with all the default code and graphics. She didn't customize anything about it except for the content (the copy, the text). Her website scores well in all search engines, Google even gives her home page (splash page) a Page Rank 4. (better then a lot of so-called custom websites) Then, to make things even better, she scores pretty well for her primary search phrase "Phenix City Real Estate" in Google and MSN, which is where she does the majority of her business. Granted, this isn't a hugely competitive search phrase like "home loans" or "real estate", but it does PROVE that a template website can, and DOES score well in the search engines, IF YOU DO THE RIGHT THINGS. (there are a lot fo things she could have done better, and some I think she shouldn't have done at all) But the point is, she has a VERY SOLID template website that scores well int he search engines, and THAT'S what matters! Don't fear the templates man... But of course, if you still fear the templates, we do offer "fully custom" website at 100 times the price! (don't be an idiot and believe the unsubstantiated statements of some people posting on this board... and that goes for me too! Spend your time on quality unique content that is on search engine friendly pages, and you too will score well in the search engines. Caveat Emptor!

"You dont know the difference between a template site, and a site like shown in your provided link, which is not a template site..." Calling the kettle black... I OWN the company that generates her website... I KNOW it is a template website... I wrote the code that generates her website... I wrote the code that IS the template!!! It's better to be thought a fool... but thank you for removing all doubt! Other people using the same TEMPLATE(S)!!! http://www.belkisjorge.com/ (same splash template) http://www.advancedfinance.net/about.htm (same site template) http://www.coastaleg.com/ (same splash template) http://denhamerhomes.com/ (same splash template) http://altarealestategroup.com/ (same site template) http://www.donjacks.com/ (same splash template) http://www.exec-finance.com/ (same splash template) http://www.belkisjorge.com/about.htm (same site template) Which also proves another point about template websites. Those people that just left the default copy and didn't add unique quality content don't score well, if at all in the Page Rank and search results. Now please provide us with some insightful double-talk about why these aren't template websites, or why I am so ignorant...!

None of your pages are working > mr expert?
I cant get any of your "samples" to load. Must be some websites you have there when they dont even work.
And yes, I can tell from your verbiage that you are not very experienced at website design nor seo.(IE: clueless) Basically only someone out for a quick buck would allow thier customers to have "splash" pages and a "copied" website.
Why dont you try and get those websites to work for me and your customers? Or have they relized they got what they paid for and are no longer talking with you?

Well this is interesting... first you say it's not a template, now you say it is a copy.
Duh... Look up the definition of a template... it means a COPY! Definition: "A document or file having a preset format, used as a starting point for a particular application so that the format does not have to be recreated each time it is used." Of course it's a copied website... it's a TEMPLATE! (but wait, you said it's not... hmmmmm...)
The pages and websites work fine, you might want to check your Internet connection... and make sure your computer is turned on... it's that little round button that usually has a circle with a line in it.
How about we get back on topic... which is if anyone knows a good web designer. Template VS Custom. Quick and easy VS Long and costly. It really doesnt' matter... as long as your website has unique and quality content, you'll score fine in the search engines.

You sound like an angry person. The link in your original post isnt a template, its a copy, and yes there is a major difference. While there may be templates of that design, what you have is a copy of a template, which you then amaturiously spliced into another page, making it not a template. This is obvious by looking at the source code. You have a second meta tag half way down the page. Very unproffessional. This is actualy worse than a template. Stealing/copying or mixing different sites into one is not a template. I wouldnt be bragging abbout taking advantage of unknowlgable realtors if I was you. Even if your only charging "$20" for a "website" according to your website. Basically what you did is make one poorly designed website for a realtor, took thier money, and than copied that persons site for your other customers. To afriad to to do real work eh? I know you will not admit it but im sure you know in your heart that you took advantage of those realtors. Im sure you also will not admit that those sites recieve hardly any organic traffic. Im sure you'll brag about them getting a million hits a day or so, but you and I know those realtors are lucky if they see 100 uniques a day, and im sure most of those visitors are from your spammy links you leave around. In your above post you say: "as long as your website has unique and quality content, you'll score fine in the search engines" You should take your own advice. While this statment is correct, if you copy someone else's website or use a template without modifying it, you then have created duplicate content. Content is more than verbiage on a page. But viewing your sites, it looks like you dont believe in anything original, including the verbiage. Lets examine the site in your orginal link. Lets choose Phenix City Real Estate ve.com/ Suprisingly this poorly made site has yet to be banned by Google. These type of website were popular about 7 yrs ago and are designed to trick the user into not strolling down, where all the keyword stuffing and junk links are placed. The inside pages, which are on a template, a template taken/stolen from yahoo geocities, are nothing more than copied articles. A Real proffesional you are. There is plenty of Adsense on this site which takes away from the profesionalism of the realtor. The displayed adsense is also violating Google TOS by encouraging user clicks, looks like this guy is out to rip everyone off. How this lady at Phenix City Real Estate can not be embarrased to have such a poor online image is beyond me. Even tho I can find a realtors contact information. I think this site was made more for the benifit of worthless link exchanges and displaying adsense. A realtor having this site is the equilivent of an agent driving around in a rusted out yugo. Its not so much a scam to try and sell these $20 websites, but what gets me is when you hucksters try to pass off these sites to be equal to a professionaly done one. Your taking advantage of people based on thier lack of knowledge. I know you will not admit it in public but how you can sleep at nite is beyond me.

Webmaster guy,
I am Kim Olive. Sure, my site may not be perfect in your eyes, but it does the job. First of all, I do not drive a Yugo and never will. So you need to Back Off!
My goal was to be on the first page of google and when I was looking for a site--I could not afford to pay the high prices some people charge to build websites since I was a new agent. I came across Web611 here at agentsonline.net (which I think is wonderful). I was able to get a site at a price I could pay and customize it according to my area and optimize it.
This is unsolicited by Greg. He is a wonderful person to do business with. I don't know about other people, but I don't like to do business with arrogant people and with Greg--it's not like that all. Anytime I have a question, he answers it. He is always adding new things to Web611 at no additional charge.
My site shows up on the first page of Google for most any search term related to my area. I get tons of leads. I closed one last month, another will close at the end of this month and tomorrow I am showing homes to a soldier that will be relocating to Ft Benning. Plus I have a referral that I sent to an agent in Eufaula AL looking for Lake front property. Just last week, I got a referral from a broker in Arizona--his son is stationed at Ft Benning and is about to PCS to North Carolina-now I will get to sell his home here in Phenix City. Yesterday I got 2 new leads and today I got one. My site works!
If the market wouldn't have slowed down, then I would have a bunch more.
For all of you agents that choose to pay thousands of dollars for a website then so be it. I choose to do business with Greg at $20/m.
Also, since I have had my site--I have received calls from different agents across the United States who ask me how I got my site looking the way it does because they spent lots of money and their's didn't look anything like mine. Atleast my site does what it needs to do despite what Mr. Webmaster guy has to say.
Another thing, I am the one who added the google adsense, not Greg and no one but you, Webmaster guy, has complained. I just got my first check from Google so I am happy.
Also, I get comments from people such as they like coming to my site because they can find everything they need there.
If anyone has any questions, feel free to call me or if you know anyone being transferred to Ft Benning or moving to Phenix City.

Thanks Kim... (haven't heard from you for a while) and Webmaster, I've wasted enough time replying to your uneducated posts... so I'm done here. Say what you will, I have 1,000's of agents who like what they get, and what they get works. So throw around the insults and say whatever you wish... I'm done here.

I stumbled upon this while doing a google search for a web designer and I'm fully amazed that webmaster would say that sites that are not custom dont rank. I know that is as untrue as it can be as a guy our company hired (a slow MF for the most part) Jared Ritchey built several that I know of and they rank quite well. The guy is a genius with design second to none in my opinion but is slow as can be in responding to me as he is a real challenge to keep on a schedule.
Anyway I'm in need of a designer that can do good work and KEEP a schedule.
My site uses an integrated solution with Joomla and Open-Realty in which Jared used RETS to put in 12,000 MLS listings for our office. It works fine but changes takes Jared forever to get started.
Maybe he is just busy and in demand, but I can't wait and need a designer to do a blog template for me.
