Not sure if this has been brought up recently, but wanted to get some insight on what advertising channels other brokers are using to find new agents

Are there any specific job sites that you've ad luck with? are you using local classfieds?

My broker asks agents who they would like to see as part of the agency. Give him the name and he will contact them. I talk to agents everyday, some I like some I don't. So when I know an agent I like I pass the name on to my broker. Sometimes I arrange a casual meeting between the agent and the broker. Im there for intoductions then I bow out.

We (as agents) are not one of those pyrmid companies. Our job is to sell Real Estate and not recruit agents. So compensation for recruiting an agent is pretty open. I've recieved a 100% split on my next deal, office dues credit, nice dinner with drinks.

In the 2 years I have been in my office, the new agents that came in were referred from agents within our office, they are also experienced agents though.

I attend alot of free dinners and lunches for the aggressive recruiting companies. I go for the free food and drinks, I can handle the calls and hard sale. My broker knows that I attend many of these events. I talk to many of the agents there, we exchange cards, and talk about why we are there. I pass the info on to my broker. Kind of like a spy.

In Missouri, It's against the law for me, as the broker, to contact an agent currently licensed under another broker in an attempt to get them to transfer their license to me.
That said, I do not try to recruit any agents who are already working for someone.
I have simply put a little ad at the bottom of my page in the area real estate magazine that says, basically, "If you are interested in starting a career in real estate, come talk to me!"
That cannot be seen as an attempt to get a currently licensed agent away from their broker. BUT, I have had several contact me, anyway, because they are unhappy with their current brokers. I only took 1 on because I would rather teach a new agent how to do things than to un-teach an agent that has been working with an unethical broker.
I am picky, though, and would rather make less money with less agents than have a bunch of agents and have to worry about what they are all doing...

Man, what a crock that is. It is called free market. How can the state tell you that you can not recruit agents currently at other offices?

How are you guys going after the new agents? This is something I would like to do once I get my office fully functional and my systems down. Do you just advertise at the local realtor licensing school?

I've always used Craigslist with great success.

There are so many real estate sites or job portals where you may post your requirements. Placing add in the classified section of local newspaper of particular area is also a good option. Joining local communities will also help you in this regard, here you will come closer to the people who want some extra income.

Nobody wants to make less money...

You don't want to learn or implement a new system to handle the added agents on your team or in your office.

Read Gary Keller's Millionaire Real Estate Agent book and re-think your expansion business plan.

The success of real estate business depends upon the network, community relationships and social prestige. Expansion of the network is a regular process. There are many real estate exclusive websites and magazines that comes with many opportunities for the agents to join the reputed brokers.

Pardon me for kicking up this older thread but can anyone in Missouri give me the statute on this??

How about trying to recruit the agents that are working with you on the other side of the transaction?

Additionally, I offer a $100 referral fee to our agents when they bring someone in. This is credited to their monthly dues.

I have considered the pyramid commission model, but decided not to go that route...there can too many potential problems arising from that situation.
