I know I am a mortgage guy but I do some pretty cutting edge stuff that some of you might be able to impliment in your own business.

First off, my most important tool can be found at www.ringcentral.com . This is the SINGLE most important tool that I own. I wont go on and on about it because you can click the link. I have this set up on my computer and this service will find me anywhere, and when I am on the phone already I can see a pop up on the screen and send this caller a message (Call you back in 5 minutes) or others.

If I am away from the office I send the toll free number to my office, my cell phone, or anywhere I want. It also acts like a fax and once I receive a fax or a message it emails me a wav or a tif (fax) AND it notifies me of a fax or voice mail via my cell phone. POWERFUL POWERFUL tool for sure.

Another thing I used EVERY DAY is Adobe Acrobat. I can take word documents, Real Estate forms, Contracts, Closing docs, or ANYTHING and turn them into a PDF document that I can email to anyone anywhere. They then print the paperwork out on their printers and I avoid the time and Fed Ex bills that come with paper. Go to www.download.com and search for PDF and you will see some other PDF converters that will help you out. Powerful tool and really good stuff.

If any of you carry a laptop with you I have a little hint that allowed me to roam the country last year and not have to plug in to be online. There are so many "hot spots" where you can get a wireless card for your computer and plug in for a fee.(or sometimes free) Finding the hot spots can sometimes be troublesome.

I have a Sprint phone and pay for the plan that allows for unlimited data. Most peopel just check their email with their phones and then get off. I actually use a usb port that I bought from Radio Shack and plug it from my phone to my laptop.
After using the XP default software for connections OR the software that comes with the cord, I simply hook the phone up and dial in to the internet.
It is faster then dial up and you can surf the net going 75 miles down the hwy. I made the trip from Seattle to LA this summer and had internet almost the entire way.

SO, after seeing all of this how would they all work together? I have a Realtor that has a Pruchase and Sales agreement that was signed on a Sunday and I am out of town on vacation going down the highway. My Realtor faxes the P&S to my 800 number and I get a notification on my cell phone. I log into the internet on my laptop via my cell phone and in my email I have a .tif of a fax. (common type of file) Well I am looking at this P&S and wondering how to get it in a form that my processor can use. I Select "print", turn the darn thing into a PDF, then email it to my processor to print out and include with the file. A copy of the P&S is kept in a "clients" folder under my borrowers name for future use.

Now I dunno how to sell a home. I dunno how you get a lock box on a house. I dunno how those "for sale" sign posts get put into the ground.

What I do know is that if you are a Realtor, and want to be more productive and get out into the "field" prospecting.....then these are the tools for you.

Good Luck I hope it helps.

Will,

Good post. Real estate agents and mortgage brokers have a lot to teach each other.

will just a question not to get off the subject but,in an earlier post you spoke of the agent cap lock product from countryside
is this a product specific to your region. No one at countryside in my market has heard of anything like it.
