Hello everyone,

I'm new to this board and hoping that someone can assist me with a question. I just renewed my license and I'm thinking of pursuing RE again part-time to help myself and friends. I've only sold one home a couple of years ago.

I have been talking to a small brokerage that pays 100% with low fees. The office is very small with only a few desks but 150 agents. They offered me an experienced broker to assist me with my first 3 transactions for $1500 and $1000 for other costs each trans. There is also a monthly fee which will need to be paid upfront for 6 mo = $350. Does it really matter if I choose a big name like Re/Max or should I go with this small brokerage? I called Re/Max but they suggested Keller Williams who I know pays low splits. I appreciate your help!!

I own a 100 percent company. In my opinion If a company doesn't provide you qualified leads to close to put money in your bank account paying a big fee is stupid.

I started out with the big companies years ago thinking it would bring me business. The TRUTH is YOU bring yourself the business by your daily actions.

I could take 2 agents. One at Re/Lax and one at Alien Realty 100 percent. The one at Re/Lax say depends on the name and does nothing. The one at a 100 percent company follows a prospecting plan. The 100 percent will kick Re/Lax's butt. So if the deciding factor is you it does not pay to give away most of your commission to a company with nice stationary.

Bottomline all things equal put more money in your pocket.

Hey sfvre,

Before I decided to venture into the real estate industry, I talked to a Royal Lepage Broker (it`s someone I know). The one thing I like most about the larger brokerages is the training and leads they will provide me. I see it as a way of paying for my inexperience. But super realtor is right, if they don`t provide you with good leads or a great training program, there is no point in paying big money.

I would say if you are going part time Re\Max is not for you. Re\Max has great brand naming and recognition. You pay for it though. I as a Re\Max agent question the fees I pay alot. I can though equate the costs I have paid for years to the clients I have today. I now though have a client base that will follow me to any company.

I agree and disagree with super. I paid dearly for name recoginition with the Re\Max name,I also gained the clients confidence with that big baloon behind me.

Now years later, I have my client base, an experienced agent, I can go find a better deal for my bottom line. When it slows down, I just may.

Your goal is to help yourself and a couple friends, don't pay the Re\Max fees. Find a one man operation to park your license at do your deals and be done. Your goals are self serving goals though. That will be picked up when talking to Re\Max, Keller Williams or larger firms. They will all likely refer you off to another broker.

If your only goal is to work part time to help yourself and friends what do you need with a mentoring program and monthly fees? In your situation I would find a broker with a reasonable split and minimal requirements.
