Florida used to require that your legal last name be used in advertising but you could use a nickname or middle name or whatever as your first name. That may have changed in the past 3 or 4 years, but I didn't see it when I checked my continuing ed book.
Pennsylvania still operates like its 1899 and will fine you if you don't register your "alias" with the state.

Yes, there are some goofy laws in PA, and it does not surprise me that PA is behind the times...
Totally unrelated but a major example of a goofy law...in PA you can't buy beer at a grocery store, you have to buy from a "beer distributor." I remember when I first moved to PA and asked the grocery clerk where is the "beer aisle" I was given a look like I had two heads. And if you want to buy liquor, you have to buy it from the "Peoples Republic of Pennsylvania" er a...I mean the Pennsylvania LCB (Liquor Control Board) at one of their "state owned stores." I kid you not, it's referred to as "state owned stores" or "state stores."
Serenity now....

Couple of things.
The law just changed last week. A Wegman's store in the Harrisburg area is now selling 6 packs and single cans of beer. The state stores are wine and hard liquor only.
I first moved here in 1970 and was similarly surprised.

Phil
Just remember the general purpose of these regulations about name is so a member of the public can check your license status and record.
So it is necessary for your ads, etc. to match the state data in order for that to be easily accomplished. And it's a reasonable regulation.

-El Luchador We used to own a winery and believe me, PA was the WORST to get our wine into. We never did, actually. We had to hire an expeditor to bring us before the liquor board. Once the state buys your wine they sell it in a wine store that reminded me of the NYS Department of Motor Vehicles. There was a cash register with an intellectually challenged drone standing behind it. If you wanted a dry white with a slight hint of pear, forget it, you weren't going to get any advice from them.

Funny thing, the PA Liquor Control Board just spent a bunch of money to teach their retail clerks "customer service".
Heck, the service at the driver's license bureau is better than at the LCB stores. Last time I stopped in one, I guess the guy at the cash register got an F on the end of course test. But then, it's like continuing ed in our business, everyone passes.

This Google Custom search may do a better job of searching the forums for some keywords than the old forum search does. The results do not include threads from the Asset Managers Forum however. To search that forum you will need to be actually in the Asset Managers Forum and you will need to use the old forum search below.
