I am new to the digital camera age and have a question.Everyone talks about megapixels and the higher the better, but if that's the case why are listings uploaded in vga mode.In other words i have a over 4 megapixel camera but for the picture to be 152kb and able to be loaded onto my mls for my listings it has to be in vga mode.So if higher megapixels=better pictures but the files are too large does having higher megapixels make any difference when you have to shoot in vga mode anyway?

I don't know about vga type file, try changing it to a jpg file which is less in memory than some other ones.
You might reduce the number of pixels to adjust it to the actual dimensions needed (the larger the size of the picture, the more pixels are needed for clarity). Also check the type of software you are using, they normally explain ways to accomplish what you are trying to do in the HELP section.

More megapixels benefit you when you are printing a photograph. If you only need a photo for a web page or MLS listing, then virtually any digital camera will work adequatey.

If you are printing the photos (say for a flyer or for publication in a real estate magazine), then you can achieve higher resolutions with more megapixels. Higher resolutions generally mean sharper, more detailed photos.

Web pages don't need high resolution files because most monitors only display 72 or 96 dots per inch (dpi). However, most quality prints output at 300 dpi.

Did that make sense or did I just confuse you? It's been a long day and I don't know how much sense I am making. \:\)
