50 years young and soon to be entering the RE trade and I'm interested in upgrading my Cell Phone to perhaps include the new SmartPhone technologies. Please advance any opinions on HandSpring Treo 600 or the high end Blackberry's effectiveness?
Do any matured RE professionals use the digital camera technologies incorporated in these SmartPhones?
Does real time E-Mail make any sense? Do business partners and clients commonly / routinely use E-mail?
I am guessing some of your answers might be geographically or demographically influenced.

I am in Las Vegas and provide technology consulting services to realtors. Plain and simple a pda-phone is one of the most valuable tools a realtor can have.
I personally have two treo 600s and love them. I have tried just above everything else on the block. I don't like the PocketPC phones but many of my clients do. I lean towards palms, such as the treo 600.
The camera on the treo 600 is only .3 megapixels, which isn't great but its a nifty gadget. I do have clients using it and emailing picturing back to assistants.
The fact that you have full email capabilities is priceless. Furthermore many MLS vendors are deploying PocketPC or Palm interfaces. TopProducer and Act have already done so as well.
As an agent you need to spend most of your time either reviewing contracts or in your car. A palm phone really lets you have a successful mobile office.

I bought the Treo and while I am feeling rather noobish I did find a unique application for it and wonder if you think this is viable, or perhaps even required? http://www.realsafe.net/

interesting app,
though i don't understand why you can't just email the pictures to an employee, assistant, family member or friend.

As I understand it, a digital photo can be easily manipulated and as such would not hold much weight as evidence so sending them to a friend might prove little help where sending them to a server where only the police w/warrant could get them would provide evidence.

Wayne,
Hehe, looks like you found me. Hope you had a good holiday. I see you backed off some of the PPC? Did the ROI get poor?

No I stopped it for the holidays didnt want to be busy for them. LOL.. email me and I will give you my number if you dont have it. The ROI is good but I wanted to enjoy the holidays and not have a lot of extra work to do. I have only had them on pause for about 6 days now. We have several realtor clients who are using the Treo 600 and love it. there's supposed to be a new model comming out this fall with double the density screen and bluetooth, so if you can wait a few months I think you will be gad you did. ------------------ Scott Schmitz RealOrganized, Inc.
