Does anyone here use (or have you used) the 1xEVDO pc card for remote internet access from Verizon? What kind of speeds do you get on it? Do they have any deals where you can bundle your cell phone service with it?

Thanks.

I use the wireless internet card from Verizon. As for speed, I get an average of about 33K. I pay $80/month. I hear that Verizon is going to be updating the service to broadband speeds in the near future while still only charging only $80/month.

The service is worth the price as it has come in very handy in the field for accessing MLS and on listing presentations. I get the most use out of it when I go door knocking while prospecting for listings. When I walk up to a home I can pull up the owner info, last sale price, and house dimensions from the town hall's online database.

Yes Yes...I think you're the one with the TabletPC. That's what I use as well. Thanks for the info.

I was hoping for faster speeds especially for pics etc, but I've found that sometimes the *max* speeds hyped by service providers aren't what you actually *average* when you use it in the real world, so it's not entirely surprising.

Thanks again.

Exactly. Max speeds are for optimal conditions, of which you probably won't have most of the time, especially when using wireless. Interference from all kinds of sources, distance from the transmitter, etc will reduce your bandwidth. I'm sure they are still trying to fix all of the gray areas of service as well.
