Has anyone out there used one of those talking house transmitters? I have seen a few around town and thought it would be a good idea, however, I tried to tune into one and my radio wouldn't go low enough (AM 530). Are they worth the $500 - $1000 pricetag?

I just bought one off ebay for $60. I'll let you know how it goes. Have you tried it yet?

Any more input on this, anybody? I see quite a few of them are up for auction on ebay.

In short.... they are junk

Just a gimmick type thing that can initially get you some listing but then they see how poor they work and you loose out for having such a piece of junk in your bag of tricks.

Problem is technical... no range and very poor frequency stability, no difference with AM or FM units... to hear the promo you would have to park in the yard or less than 25 to 30 feet from the transmitter... thats in the yard for most homes in my area.

I though they looked interesting and tried both types... good thing about my supplier is that he gave me back my money when he saw how poor they worked and stopped selling them himself so I didn't loose anything... feel sorry for the poor guy's that bought them and now have to dump on ebay.

In short they are just Junk...

I have had my 10 units for about 2 years and have had NO problems with them.
They have been a great listing tool and a source of ancillary income.
My real estate practice is built of a fee for service platform therefore Talkinghomes, virtual tours etc. are things that I offer on a menu of services. The seller picks the item(s) that he/she wants and then pays up front. I have also rented some of my units to FSBO’s and to a couple of car dealerships.

I agree with Michael. My agents have had some success with them. They are just another tool.

I have about 7 of the newer units if anybody wants them. I have no idea how much they are worth.

Make it a great day!

Hey Brian,
I spoke to one of their sales reps Friday and the units are about $315 US each unless you buy several.
Cheers,
michael
