i just bought a pen tablet (motion computing LE1600) and i'm still trying to learn on it. i bought it so that i can fill out a sales contract and have my clients sign on it so that i can send it out via efax right then and there. my problem is what format do i put the contract it. i tried the .pdf way (adobe acrobat 7.0) but it asks for a digital signature that takes waaaay too long to set up. i just want the ability to see the actual signature on the contract without this digital thingy. Can anyone help me out on this? Anyone doing anything like what i'm trying to achieve?

I just got a tablet PC too ... I've gone through and gotten the listing documents saved as Word Documents. Then I had to go through and realign the pages as they saved slightly differently. Then you can select the pen and sign and e-mail/print/fax as necessary.

I haven't gone through and done the P&S contract as it's 4 pages long here and theres a bunch more adjusting the justification on all the pages to get it to line up.

Hopefully that'll help you.

i'm willing to try something else, if anyone has other ideas.

Thats, interesting...

Mr. Walker may I ask what hardware you are using and version of tablet OS used? I must say I have thought of this but find I can get easily carried away on tech changes. I wonder if the adjustments are ongoing for any document or only those not created on the tablet pc?

Jray909 do you have a dell tablet? Curious to see if the reviews read comparing recent tablet pcs at ZD.net have real field testing.

Thanking you for time...

I use the New Gateway CX200X. I got the unit with upgraded RAM 1 Gig and a faster processor using WIndows XP Tablet Version. I paid something like $1,400 (ask for Realtor discount) and I needed a laptop as my desktop was at the end of it's life. I looked at the regular laptop and with all the features that this had I figured I was only paying about $150 more for this compared to another regular laptop with the same features. For $150 --- I went with it and am quite happy. I'll be even happier once all the forms are straightened out. Gone are the days of carrying 100+ pages of papers for multiple copies of all the forms I could need. Now they are in a folder on my Laptop! I will never go with another desktop again. What a convenience to be able to take with me to listings and open houses ... it's great. I got the free (after rebate) printer and leave it in my trunk. Now I can print sheets for clients whereever I am. Eventually I'll go with a battery operated printer ... but I need to pay off the laptop first!

I have not tried this before, but if you need a good free PDF maker/editor you can download one at http://www.software995.com they have all sorts of freeware that you can pay to upgrade and not have the wait time (about 15-20 seconds). I use their software to make PDFs of my contracts all the time.

I'm so excited ... I just figured it out and have been spending a long time converting PDF's to Word Docs and reformating so it looked the same. My Tablet (Gateway cx200x) came with Microsoft Journal made especially for the tablet computing system.

I "print" a PDF file, or anything else for that matter, to the Microsoft Journal "printer" in my printers folder and whalla it's on the screen as a fully notatable file. Then I can print, fax, save, or e-mail to anyone! I cannot tell you how easy this is and ANYTHING can be handled this way from printing websites and making notes for your IT guy to change to the best one ... signing contracts and addendas!!!

I cannot wait until I have to write my next contract ... I have been doing all paper for 3 months while chomping at the bit to use this technology. I've also spent hours selling myself a home using the older method and it was time consuming (converting to Word etc) and not the rsult that I was looking for when I would be in front of a client.

Hope that helps and your computer has the program -- Microsoft Journal. GOOD LUCK!

You seem like you really know what you are doing. I have been trying to figure out the same thing. Does this only work with MS Journal or does MS Word work? I also am not sure what you by printing something to another printer folder.

No ... I really didn't know what I was doing until I heard the same problem being solved on another webpage.

If your computer is like mine ... you should see in the drop down menu when you print an option for Microsoft Journal installed. If not you might be able to download it. Then print to that and it converts anything on screen in any program that would normally print to paper and puts it in a file that can be "written" on digitally.

I hadn't had luck with the Word process as I had to modify everything that I converted due to formatting issues.

Good luck and I hope it works for you.

JRay909,

I kinda feel stupid that I couldn't figure it out for 2-3 months. I'm glad it works for you too! Amazing how easy it is now though.

I use a Motion Tablet and have got it down now.
What I did was get my documents on my tablet by
any of the companies out there that supply them. I use Forms on Line from Planet Realtor.

It allows you to do a transaction and save it to Forms on line.
After saving it to Forms on line Gold I start a new file for that transaction and save it to that
file as a PDF file. This way I always have an original unsigned document that can be changed.

Now I open the PDF file and print it to journal notewriter which allows you to sign on the tablet and then I save it in the same file
as a notewriter file so I have both documents in the file. This way I can always go back and change the document if I have to. Once it is saved in journal notewriter you can not change the document.

It works great and then I save the file to a CD-rom and always backup my system to an external hardrive.

Hope that was helpful.
