I'm a new agent, Jan '09. I am working with one buyer and have one listing. Obviously that's not alot but so time consuming. I have my work to do, prospecting, checking new listings everyday, posting on craigslist once a week, blogging, and answering calls but I also go along with my mentor ALOT for training purposes. I go with her to closings, when she shows properties, and listing appointments, plus we go to office meetings. There is so much involved with RE, I had no idea. I do love it. My point is if you have the time, there's tons to learn and do, do it! But remember, you always always always have to be prospecting for clients to keep a steady flow of business. After 4 months in this business I don't have a steady flow of business but I also am very passive about prospecting. I don't knock on doors and I don't cold call(my company doesn't subscribe to a "Do Not Call" list any more). My fees for the year including my office fees, yearly dues, and quarterly dues are about $2500 a year. Of course i'm sure this differs from state to state, i'm in Indiana. They didn't tell the class about the fees in Real Estate School, imagine that! Good luck with your RE career!
