I've been looking through some real estate website software and I found a realtor who uses on of them; http://www.atlantacommunities.net/index.html I notice that this website has a Pagerank of 4. And yet, it is framed. How is this possible? Also, does anyone have experience with Official Desktop? http://www.officialdesktop.com/official-desktop-products-agent-website.html They say their websites are Search engine marekting ready and such. I couldn't really find any sample sites that their clients use. They have great bells and whistles such as IDX integration and such. But I'd like to know if their website templates are search engine friendly as well. Any thoughts?

Greg and Doug, Perhaps, I misspoke. With regards to Pagerank, I was assuming that PR and getting a side indexed had something in common. For example, if your site was framed, then I thought it wouldn't get indexed by search engines. And if it wasn't indexed, then how can other websites link to you. But based on what Doug said, I guess framed pages don't interfere with your PR???
People try to beef up their PR because a higher PR can *possibly* result in a higher search ranking. There are other factors to consider of course.

dreamer, framed pages do not interfere with the PR of your main entry page of your website. If a site is framed and provisions are not made for spidering - i.e noframes section and followable links on the framed pages - then the worst that can happen is that Google thinks your website just contains a couple of pages and really they could care little about that. There are lots of one and two page sites that rank in the top 10 - even #1.
Sites do not have Page Rank - only pages have Page Rank. A page gets Page Rank from people linking to it and they link to your main entry page which then is the page that accumulates the most page Rank (and that is what you usually want). This is the same for framed or non-framed sites.

Don't confuse page rank with "search engine friendly".
Just because a page has a high page rank DOES NOT mean the page is search engine friendy... and just because a page is search engine friendly DOES NOT mean the page is search engine optimized.
A page can have one word on it "hello", and the page can have a very high page rank because 500 pages link TO it. The same page can be very search engine friendly, but the page is not optimized so no matter how friendly it is, and no matter how high the page rank is, it will never appear in a search engine results.
You have to have the right "balance" of all factors.

My framed website www.KnoxvilleMLS.com has a Google page rank of 4 also. Frames are not the kiss of death to search engines some would have you believe.

This Google Custom search may do a better job of searching the forums for some keywords than the old forum search does. The results do not include threads from the Asset Managers Forum however. To search that forum you will need to be actually in the Asset Managers Forum and you will need to use the old forum search below.
