#28783 - 10/17/05 03:18 PM How do I make sketch-like pictures?

I've seen a lot of flyers ('home for sale') with a picture that looks like a drawing/sketch (but very clean). I have 2 questions:

1. Is there a software to convert current digital picture to a professional drawing-like sketch?
2. If yes, what software/s are available in the market to do that?

Thanks,
Vicjue

Corel Draw has specific apps for rendering pictures into line drawings.

Vicjue, just curious as to why an agent would put a "sketch" of a home they are marketing on a flyer? The only place I have seen a drawing of a home is on marketing materials for new construction.

Thanks for replying, everyone. I actually have both Macromedia and Adobe products, and even talked to their experts. They said their application can do so much, but not as clean. The sample drawing/sketch can be found on this website http://www.fordplowright.com (I am not affiliate to the company, but just wanted to share what I am lookin for.

Jim - I would like to put one sketch, apart from digital pictures on the flyer, I thought it looks very professional :-)

I've seen the framed sketches beign given to the new homeowners or to the sellers as a complimentary gift on completion of the sale.

Stickler on terms, but I wouldn't call that a sketch. That would be a pictorial. Drawings of this type are of high quality and are typically copyrighted by the creature, in most cases a draftsperson.

Indeed those "sketches" look professional!

Are you sure it's photoshopped? It could have been drawn by an artist. Either way, looks like a great gift idea!

FYI, I have CorelDraw and took a home picture image and went through all of the program imaging transformations and found nothing close to the drawing shown in the link provided by Vickie. I would have to agree with Altarealtor in that this drawing was created by an artist.

If there is such a program that could easily create this type of drawing... I'm all ears!

As a side note, CorelDraw did have a cool image conversion called "Watercolor".

I was thinking caricature using Corel's trace, until I saw the referred image. Now I take that back.

I am also interested in this technology. I want a sketch of myself to insert into marketing materials. I think it would be unique instead of a regular photo. I foung a guy locally who does pencil drawings from photos, but, I have not returned his call to get pricing info yet. Any info on software would be appreciated.

Go to your local high school and ask for student referrals. You'll be surprised as to the capability and the willingness.
