I am working on an ambitious plan, the boss man asked the office to come up with new ways to attract more listings, and so my plan is this: create a new bi-monthly system of cd-business cards that contain the latest listings, price-changes etc and then the contact information of the respective agents and maybe even simple things like "if you would like to see your home listed here...". There are many styles of "business card" sized cd-r disks and they can be cheap depending if I want to go the route of printing my own labels or have them printed professionally for me.

I thought I would ask for opinions on this, this idea although not new, is not implemented in our area by any means. I think it would help set our office and our agents apart from the rest and give us bonus points when prospective clients pick out an agent or broker to sell their home. Once the system is in place, it's simply a matter of automation and burning copies every 2 weeks to hand out, mail out etc.

What do you think? Would it be worth my time, I estimate I could rig up a presentation program and such in about 2 weeks time and the costs would be for the disks alone which would run about $800 professionally printed for a 1000, or significantly cheaper if I print my own labels.

My impression of those business card CDs is less than complimentary, mainly becuase they jam up CD drives more often than not.

All it takes is one to jam up the drive of a "prospect" and they'll bad mouth you and your broker to anyone in the neighborhood who will listen.

so that's a vote for not a good idea then? What if I used standard mini-disc's, i've used them often and never encountered a situation where they would jam inside a drive. Or would you still err to the side of caution on this one?

If you do it check wholesale avenues at www.pricewatch.com for cd-r.

Yeah adding to post there are some real nice mini cdr's @ 37 for 100 with sleeves to hold them. Probably a less expensive one but thought you would like having the plastic sleeves.

If you do not I agree with it could potentially be a problem. It is just a low risk as stated in my opinion.

It would set you apart. It would be a nice perk. But is this information not available on a web page?

If no then awesome! If so maybe it would help the agent when there is a situation where net access is unavailable and they could show the listings with a cd.

Those little mini discs are a headache. They've jammed every drive I've had and when I thought of handing them out, everyone said "Oh...you mean those little disks that get stuck in your computer?"

If you want to distribute the information, can't you use a cheaper, more effective method like email or a website? It seems a little cumbersome to have to put that info in your drive when you can get it from most agent's websites. The most effective way lately seems to be an email newsletter. Inman.com provides one for $150/mo that let's you include this information.

well it's good that I asked before I got to far into it, it has an overwhelming bad stigma around it I suppose. I wasn't thinking of it as a replacement for the website etc, and I realized the information would be just as easily accessed, but this was just another trick in the bag. Anyways my time is probably best spent coming up with a new plan. Thanks for those that gave input!
