I think your site really need a little more designing, i mean i'm not a professional in terms of web designing but your page is not very user friendly and the text is not really attracting.

Frankly speaking, once a website got indexed or crawled by the bot, its ranking is assigned. If on that time the site didn't able to leave the impression of relevant or quality website then, it will become very difficult to place it high in the SERP ranking.
I feel, you have to hire a professional, because it is not about any test of the knowledge, it is all about the business of your father.

It normally helps when you can develop some skills before you take over the market.
