I'm trying to start a computer company and I was wondering what kind of rates do you guys consider reasonable to pay for quick computer help...I guess in the Northeast I'd be interested the most in.

Well I do this on the side and use paypal for payment. They accept credit cards now and the fee they charge is actually lower than getting a machine and such for someone not getting payments via credit everyday.

First hour for remote sessions is 10. Normally I can resolve the problems in 10-15 minutes.

Is that along the lines of what you are trying to do?

I can do a remote pc cleanup including updates for software, clean and remove viruses, spyware, adware. Optimise speed. Set automatic defrags, virus scans, updates and so on.

40 for that.

Everyone seems to feel it is less than lugging your pc into the geek squad or a tech. Easier. Heck they do not even have to be home. I use tight vnc so I have a login for those who authorize it.

In my area prices range from $45 to $75 an hour, depending on the company.

In Ohio telephone tech support for computers is included in our state dues.

Neat. Can you share that information and how to qualify for it here in Ohio. I might share that with agents that do not know.

Great tip!

Its part of the OAR dues. They just have to go to the OAR home page or look in their monthly news letter. By the way the contact number is 866-478-8324. Any member of the OAR can call get free tech support on hardware, software, digital cams and any computer related things.
