I signed a Buyers Agent contract and recently found a great "For Sale by Owner" home. My agent never showed the home to me or suggested we request a showing. My question. Can I persue the house without my agent and would I be liable for commissions?

Ask your agent to request a showing. I would (as an agent) have no problem doing that. FSBOs do not show up on my MLS so I don't send them to the buyers.
You could be liable for the commission, that comes down to contract law really. Your agent is not just there to take you on a tour of a property. There is alot of behind the scenes stuff done to protect you. Most FSBOs I have dealt with on behalf of the buyer were always willing to pay the fee though to the Buyers agent.
This Google Custom search may do a better job of searching the forums for some keywords than the old forum search does. The results do not include threads from the Asset Managers Forum however.
