In Missouri, It's against the law for me, as the broker, to contact an agent currently licensed under another broker in an attempt to get them to transfer their license to me. That said, I do not try to recruit any agents who are already working for someone. I have simply put a little ad at the bottom of my page in the area real estate magazine that says, basically, "If you are interested in starting a career in real estate, come talk to me!" That cannot be seen as an attempt to get a currently licensed agent away from their broker. BUT, I have had several contact me, anyway, because they are unhappy with their current brokers. I only took 1 on because I would rather teach a new agent how to do things than to un-teach an agent that has been working with an unethical broker. I am picky, though, and would rather make less money with less agents than have a bunch of agents and have to worry about what they are all doing...

Man, what a crock that is. It is called free market. How can the state tell you that you can not recruit agents currently at other offices?

How are you guys going after the new agents? This is something I would like to do once I get my office fully functional and my systems down. Do you just advertise at the local realtor licensing school?

There are so many real estate sites or job portals where you may post your requirements. Placing add in the classified section of local newspaper of particular area is also a good option. Joining local communities will also help you in this regard, here you will come closer to the people who want some extra income.

I am picky, though, and would rather make less money with less agents than have a bunch of agents and have to worry about what they are all doing... Nobody wants to make less money... You don't want to learn or implement a new system to handle the added agents on your team or in your office. Read Gary Keller's Millionaire Real Estate Agent book and re-think your expansion business plan.

The success of real estate business depends upon the network, community relationships and social prestige. Expansion of the network is a regular process. There are many real estate exclusive websites and magazines that comes with many opportunities for the agents to join the reputed brokers.

Pardon me for kicking up this older thread but can anyone in Missouri give me the statute on this??

How about trying to recruit the agents that are working with you on the other side of the transaction?
Additionally, I offer a $100 referral fee to our agents when they bring someone in. This is credited to their monthly dues.
I have considered the pyramid commission model, but decided not to go that route...there can too many potential problems arising from that situation.

This Google Custom search may do a better job of searching the forums for some keywords than the old forum search does. The results do not include threads from the Asset Managers Forum however. To search that forum you will need to be actually in the Asset Managers Forum and you will need to use the old forum search below.
