Hello everyone, I am a new Broker and previous agent. I would like advice, pros, cons...etc. about whether to open my own office or work with an existing Broker/office(local office or national office). I know there is a lot of overhead so that is a factor. My goal is to learn how to be a successful Broker. Any advice, comments, links appreciated.

PS-I am glad I found this forum; there is a lot of information here!

There doesn't need to much overhead at all. I opperated out of my home for years and had 2 agents working under me. Some state laws may not allow that so you would need to check.

The agents working under me had offices in their homes as well, so they didn't need or want to have another office to go to.

What's right for you, only you can decide. If you feel that you have a lot to learn than it's probably best to work for an existing broker.

But what was the point of getting the brokers license if your not going on your own?

For me the freedom to do what I want, the way I want, and the opportunity to get 100% of the commission made the decision very easy.

Chris
